You made my butt hurt by saying that. That was my favorite video game of all time until Shenmue came out.

Flying Battery sounds best orchestrated to me. I like the original, but I think this is more along the lines of what they really wanted to do: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=knu5hp0xNB0

Also, I feel there's a lot of good to be said for the 8 bit Sonic Music as well.

US Nights only got the Jewel packaging with the 3D controller to the best of my knowledge....but yeah, I agree with your point.

Agreed, most Saturn games felt like this to me.

>What other Genesis games should I play?

That's an extremely long list Anon. Sounds like you like platform/adventure games so...

-Strider
-Techno Cop
-Flashback
-Any Sonic game
-Any Disney game
-Jurassic Park (Rampage Edition isn't bad either; title screen music is annoying, though)
-Garfield, Caught in the Act
-Wonder Boy in Monster World
-Ghostbusters
-Cool Spot
-Star Trek The Next Generation: Echos of the past

Sky's the limit here...

I remember "Millennium Tower" which was really just the Transamerica building.

I bought one on 9/9/99 when I was 14. I saved all Summer for it, and still have the promotional swag I got from EB with it. Games? I had many of the usual first party games, the first one I had was the launch titles Sonic Adventure (which I didn't get to play the same day as it wouldn't boot, I exchanged it for a working one the next day) and Hydro Thunder. Later on I got others that I really wanted as they came out such as Sega Rally 2, Resident Evil:code Veronica (also happened to be my first Resident Evil), Crazy Taxi, Sega GT, Metropolis Street Racer, Jet Grind Radio, Shenmue, Sonic Adventure 2, et cetera. I also started buying used games to save money, one the most pleasant surprises being Tokyo Xtreme Racer, I went and got the sequel after beating it. Hell, I still collect Dreamcast games today, so my library is ever-growing.

Favorite one? Shenmue by far. I also picked up a PAL version of Shenmue II when it came out (unfortunately I lent it to a friend and never saw it again)

One I hated? I never really hated any of them, even one that I'll openly admit is shit (The Ring: Terror's Realm)

I thought Crazy Taxi was just a fictionalized San Francisco?

Both.

I liked the first a lot better than the second. Once you got to New York, it felt like nothing but concrete walls. The hydraulics seem like a neat idea at first, but I prefer the original's dive-in-and-play gameplay to it.

The soundtracks were quite excellent. There are plenty of moments in the game and ones you create that will have you laughing your ass off, and you will push yourself for the higher ranks (awesome, crazy....whatever the fuck it is that comes after crazy; I dunno, been awhile since I played)

It's fun in spurts, but you will burn out after awhile.

The main drawback to it in my opinion was the same with most Saturn games. It was too short and as such lacked depth to me. But I think that was more a software limitation with the CD format and the programming that had to go onto those discs than anything else. More tracks and characters would've been great, but I doubt there'd be enough space on the CD for that.

Cool, this was a game from my early adolescence.

Truth be told, I actually prefer to use the normal Saturn pad (version 2, of course.). Just use the shoulder buttons to lean and they'll turn quickly enough.

>how people can say they don't like the music is beyond me

In all fairness, the music was just a product of the times (i.e. Spice Girls and such). Catchy cheesy pop aside, there's always resistance to it simply because it's catchy cheesy pop music.

It doesn't matter how delicious the cheese is.

I imagine that anyone who had a Saturn knew about it, myself included. I've been playing since '97. Bought my copy new at Wal Mart for $49.99+tax. That was in $1 bills too, a fat wad of them.
