You can download Taito Type X (and more PC board) dumps in /1cc/ that will work on any computer, see image or my name for link

>Good luck getting DEmul to work though. That shit is retardedly complicated.
The complete opposite, it's literally the easiest NAOMI emulator around. Literally just get rom then choose from a list, no harder than any other Arcade emulator

>>2487947
>DOES anyone know how to get DEmul working?
Make a post on /1cc/, I can help you out with anything

>>2489407
It's here and there, generally very very close to original hardware but you don't really have many alternatives to start with

I hear toothpaste can fix scratched up discs

How true or untrue is this? Also I remember my friend used to use a car buffer to polish his scratched up playstation games and that would apparently fix it up real good, can anybody confirm or deny?

>What's the point of emulating on a CRT?
No input delay whatsoever. It's the only device that can display low resolution games that use non-square pixels correctly.

Go play Star Wars Rebel Strike on your computer and then get back to me, or try playing something like F-Zero AX

Ebin.

>>2476119
>But it can do 240p. You just need to use the shitty ancient VGA ports and the right configuration. If you're autistic enough to actually want this kind of "perfect CRT setup" except without the actual consoles, then do it properly. No need to fuck around with some stupid Wii crap setup.
Except it isn't, actual 240p on PCs required older video cards and some hacked video drivers on Windows XP or alternatively some you need to compile some drivers on Linux that again only work on specific cards. You must not know very much about this despite speaking like you know it. Compared to just putting an emulator on your Wii and then changing one setting for 240p.

>It's shit. It requires stupid ass hackery just to run the shit you want, special patches to the emulators themselves just to get them to a runnable state due to the absolutely fucking shit hardware, and you're still limited to early systems.
Except I've been able to play quite a few late 90's arcade games perfectly on it. Some of them even with an actual rewind feature. You must be confused about what it can and can't do.

>Thing is there's no actual reason you shouldn't be upscaling the output of your emulator

OP, use Genesis Plus GX for Sega CD, and Not64 for N64 as well as the virtual console for the 23 or so N64 games that were on there. You should be able to play a good chunk of the N64 library decently.

>I honestly see no benefit to doing so
>Everything I do must have a benefit to me
I have or had rare shit in my possession before too, I SHARED them FOR FREE because sharing is good. That sounds cliche but it's true, games are made to be played and enjoyed by people, not hoarded by some asshole until it dies and now it doesn't exist in any form anywhere and nobody gets to play it or analyze it.

>especially since they are pretty much the only trade-bait I can think of for other prototypes.
This is agreeable I suppose, only because without trading it's impossible to get some things to later SHARE with people.

>Some people do fundraisers to dump games, but to me that seems worse than just hoarding them, especially since every prototype I own is of a game that made it to retail release.
You say you want benefits, this is one way you can get compensation for something people want. It's not like you're putting a gun to their head and forcing them to pay you, they're WILLINGLY paying you because that's what they want, you get compensated for what you paid for the cart and now people get to play a prototype version of a game they really liked and it gets preserved. Everybody wins.

>I probably will someday just for the sake of public preservation, my aversion to entitled 14 year olds demanding teh romz without ever buying a prototype themselves be damned.
At least you're slightly better than most hoarders in that you have SOME plan to preserve what you have. Probably.

Ha ha, no. Dreamcast emulation is perfectly fine, maybe not as perfect as people would like it to be but close enough

There's no reason to talk about Japanese consoles when Western consoles are quite literally the same thing with a different shell and regional lockout, if anything what we DO need to have is an America/Europe general where we talk about nothing but games and systems from the west

>There wasn't much info on how to get the true ending when it came out, though.
When it came out it was pretty much the stuff of legend and rumor for everybody but those 3 people who played it in Asia and told us about it. Crazy to think it's only been like 2 or 3 years since it got emulated and I was finally able to play it online with somebody in Singapore

>The one I wanted to try was Dolphin Blue... that was hyped up a bit but by the time it came out arcades were pretty much dead here.
You haven't played it yet? It's a pretty good game although I didn't enjoy it quite as much as Metal Slug or Demon Front, something about the 3D grafix not being quite as cool to look at as well animated sprites and the music was eh. Here's a link to an emulator and the game if you're interested courtesy of /1cc/

Only one of the guys behind Metal Slug, not all of them. The actual sequel to Metal Slug came later on the same arcade board.

>>2439147
He does bring up a good point though, it's nowhere nearly as cool in design as what Metal Slug was.

If we're looking at SNES vs Genesis the Genesis actually had more sales worldwide up until around 1996 where Sega stopped giving a fuck about it and gave the whole 16 bit market to Nintendo

But who really gives a shit about sales, we're not investors here
