All this aside, I fucking want a Cube Quest so bad.

That post had a lot of other manuals in it and that's what throws me. Rock n Rope, Dig Dug, Tempest, a good amount of Atari stuff it seems. Also a Japanese Invaders instruction card and a G05 monitor manual, and a ton more. That's an impressive hoard of manuals, if anything.

OP also seems to be avoiding those manual posts, which really throws me off, because I'm starting to think the OP is a big troll and also posted the manual pics because I don't know he's bored or something.

Look I'm gonna be totally honest, if I was asking around on any imageboard or forum or whatever and someone posted a pic of a manual like that, I'd be going apeshit thinking obviously that the mystery had been solved. The fact he's completely avoiding them as if they don't exist indicates clearly to me that either OP's bullshiting, or OP and manual poster are the same person.

Yeah that manual is a little odd. Looks legit but I see where you're coming from. The Japanese and the schematic is definitely not from anything Simutrek, so maybe that's a mistake from the poster, or it's a elaborate shitpost. If it was a shitpost then damn, that's effort.

Thanks dude. Logic board repair can be an elaborate puzzle, but they're so satisfying when repaired.

I get what you're saying. Guess I figured most people figured that a game viewed from the front looks the same as any other machine with obvious minor differences.

>> No.10061961 [View]

Also for reference, I asked about the cabinet profile (i rarely namefag anymore unless I have to) since getting a profile would generally narrow down the cabinet maker to a couple results. Obviously getting the front profile in useless, and I'm sure the OP knows this.

Look bud, if you want a game to exist, don't larp. Just design it yourself. There's even hardware and software to program for authentic vector hardware, like the Vectrex.

A lot of the problem is proper emulaton. A lot of games from the 70s through the early 80s used circuitry that's completely analog, and therefore difficult to emulate. It can be done, but it's still a challenge. Ozma Wars by SNK was added to their 40th anniversary collection because the original logic board was easy to obtain (especially in japan) with the extended sound daughterboard that gave the game it's charm. Other games like the Micon Kit or Yosaku aren't dumped and therefore present a harder challenge. The corporatization of conpanies also presents a problem as a lot of time, the problem is that people don't give a shit. This isn't something that is going to make money for them, which is pointless to them. As unfortunate as it is.

Yes, it can. It just takes some jumpers. Also worth less money with the chip taken out.

>swapped the CRTs for LCDs
What a shame. Any place around me that does that, I would buy them to repair and use.

>>8380593
I guess they don't want to deal with "unreliable" pictures. Even though all it takes to repair your average CRT monitor is basic electronics and soldering knowledge, basic tools (soldering iron/wick or a Hakko FR301, and the repair parts) and a flowchart if necessary. There's a lot of people that don't want this. Stupid, but sometimes we get free CRTs out of it.

But Space Invaders does have cheap deaths. Unless you know what you're doing, you're going to lose after 4 waves of Invaders. The game gets to a point where the Invaders are right on top of you and will shoot through you. One wrong move and you're done for.

Pac-Man; Good with speedup mod
Dig-Dug; Great, and enjoyable game
Frogger; Solid enjoyable game
Space Invaders; Every other space shooter is better.
Galaga; An example of a better space shooter (although I prefer Galaxian or Galaga)
