I converted them to 8-bit PNG using Paint.NET and set the offsets to 31/67 (like the default caco sprite) but it didn't work. Same errors as before.

I'm trying to make a cacodemon graphic replacement. I edited doom.wad and replaced all the HEAD**** sprites with bmp files. But when I start the game cacos are replaced with the default error sprite. How can I fix this? Also, when I open the wad with Slade, it doesn't recognize the images as sprites, only as "images".

I'm trying to make a wad and hope you guys can help me. I made replacements for all the cacodemon's sprites (HEADA1 etc.) as 256-colours .bmp files. What should I do to make the game use these instead of the ones in DOOM.WAD? (I already tried to simply make a .wad with XWE and put them in but it didn't work).

I personally love Dwarf Fortress's adventurer mode. The combat system is just too damn good.
