When this was made, the point was to compile as many different first person shooters ("perspective" was probably more appropriate) together into one package, without quality assurance.

These are, despite the efforts put into creating it, not all worth playing.

I also regret a lot of the decisions I had made in this, as I was not too familiar with the content I was dealing with, and really need to start updating and filling in the flaws I had created.

For one, I had bundled incomplete ports (JonoF's Shadow Warrior Port), I had bundled extremely outdated ports for some games due to misunderstandings (The Elder Scrolls, Rise of the Triad, et cetera), I had forgotten many official add-ons (Namely Doom Master Levels, probably more), I had neglected to include unofficial modifications that were largely considered beneficial (bmouse for Blood to name one), I believe I had even included a demo of a freeware game, and included games that I couldn't get working myself (fucking Assassin 2015)(but don't expect me to fix that).

I might soon get around to adding more games (although I believe I may have even said this multiple times within the past year), and fixing many other mistakes, while also striving to make all the games run by opening up a simple shortcut. In hindsight, this would have just been easier than writing out directions for each one.

Expect an update, but don't expect a date, and if you do make that mistake, expect it to be late.

Just popping in to tell everyone of a few updates/mistakes I had made with the torrent.

There were many now outdated sourceports included in the torrent, such as Zandronum, GZDoom, EDuke32, WinRottGL, ECWolf (may be even more).

http://www.riseofthetriad.dk/DL_GlROTT.htm
http://maniacsvault.net/ecwolf/download.php

I included an outdated version of the the DaggerfallSetup.exe file.
http://theelderscrolls.wiwiland.net/?title=Daggerfall_:_DaggerfallSetup_EN
I am not sure of the content, but there is a massive size difference.

I had forgotten to include BMouse for Blood (improves mouselook significantly), and Doom's Master Levels.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/1981vc21kmh6nwq/Master%20Levels.zip

EDuke32 can run another build game titled "NAM", and perhaps even "WWII GI".

You may want need to rename files for it to work.
http://wiki.eduke32.com/wiki/Frequently_Asked_Questions

If anyone else wants to add to the list, go ahead.

I am currently going through the /vr/ archive to scrounge up and compile titles for the games that were meant for the update (I haven't decided yet if I would rework on it, but maybe someone else would).
http://pastebin.com/Zq9bgdt0
Keep in mind, I included game titles up to 1999 because I haven't investigated whether or not they are 2.5d or not. Nothing is or was, rock solid.

The initial torrent link is now on /vr/s very own website.

Well, thank you for continuing to seed!

>8.7 gigabytes
I am always so fascinated when I see that compressing the files shaved off nearly 4 gigabytes.

>> No.896558 [View]

My PC crashed and I was forced to secure a system recovery (because backups are for pussies). I had lost all of my progress on the torrents update, along with its accompanied game title list, and truly I am no longer interested in rebuilding it either!

Hopefully the first torrent can satisfy you all for now. Sorry for all of the hype to end in failure, maybe I will pursue it again in a few months, but probably not.

If anyone is interested in completing the torrent themselves or just want to know what they are going to be missing, I can attempt to give you the names of some of the game titles I remember and "master source sites" where I obtained a list of multiple games that were to be included.

No sir, but I would like to ask you if you still happen to have the full version of the game? I am unfamiliar with how Macintosh computers work, but could you upload the game to the internet? I ask, because it was one of the 3 games I was unable to receive a full copy of for the torrent. If it were to be uploaded, I would include it in the next update to the torrent, and may consider including a Macintosh emulator as well.

>inb4 someone links me to the macintosh.gardens megaupload link

If you would like, here is a link to the torrent.

My mistake, I included GZDoom, not that this changes anything. I included GZDoom version 1.8.0, here is a link to 1.8.2, the latest version.

I am glad that this update is rather minor, but I still feel like I should have waited a little longer. If you were unaware, I included 2.7.0, so you may want to update your sourceport.

Added to my to-do list, thank you! Also, sorry for the late response, not many people normally respond to my posts, and I usually stop monitoring for responses after a few hours.

Any new issues with the files in the torrent? Nothing gamebreaking or are there necessary gameplay improvements that could better a gamers experience that I did not include(Example: 'Superior' sourceport, 'improved' gameplay modifications (SEE: System Shock GAMESETUP.txt)? I already regret not pairing bMouse with Blood, may include just the bmouse executable in the update ! No questions on how to set up a certain game? Do the games work on Windows 7 64bit (I am unfamiliar sadly)? What about on previous systems(Vista, XP, etc)? Is the information given in the text files correct, and what do you think would make the files more clear and/or better? Please tell me if I messed up by including a game without its music(excluding Powerslave/Exhumed (fixed in the next update))! Any other ports on different systems you would like to see of a certain game (Sometimes they are completely/very different(SEE: Doom 64, Quake II 64(not in the torrent, but still), Powerslave/Exhumed on PS1, etc))? What are the virus scans from different scanners (excluding avast!)? I ask that because I only used one scanner, and they don't all detect the same infections. What games available would you recommend someone to play(I may have tried it, but comparatively to reading the first or second page of a book)? How often do you actually try new games from the torrent, and what are the game titles that intrigued you the most(it isn't relevant, but I find it interesting)? I can keep this up, but I will just be as general as possible; if you have any other questions, comments, concerns, or any new game titles not included, please post them, and I will get to them whenever possible!

Alright, I am working on the torrent again (as if I haven't said that before), and need some more FPS titles for the torrent. You may have read from previous posts that I have made, that I will be including first person RPGs as the MAIN theme of this torrent due to not having many more FPS titles, which is true.

I would appreciate it if you were to tell me any issues you may have found with the previous torrent. I have fixed the music issue in Powerslave/Exhumed(along with added the playstation version) already, but one mistake easily means I could have made another.

I am still looking for Extreme Paintbrawl, along with the full versions of Rodger Ramrod, Bobenstein 3D(I am actually not sure if this is full or not now that I think about it), and Prime Target if you can supply it.

As always, I would definitely appreciate any titles you can muster. Here is my current to do list.
http://pastebin.com/FrejHvge
(Those marked under the category (OTHER) are simply titles I have yet to organize into the current scheme.)

Along with any other pre full-3D game in this list.
http://www.allgame.com/style.php?id=411&tab=games&page=1&sort=title_ASC

Also, if you have any questions, comments, or concerns, now would be the time to say it.

it isn't the physical box set but it is in the torrent
http://thepiratebay.sx/torrent/8557820/Retro_First_Person_Shooter_Compilation

I included two versions, because I really wanted to get this game to work, and this was the only download available (as in, no disc version). I couldn't get the music to run in the 'portsplice'(In the folder "Rebel Moon Altered Files"), but it fixes the framerate perfectly, and you CAN run the music separately alongside the game with any software that can run .wav files. I also included the original unedited files (In the folder "Rebel Moon Original Files"), but I am no good in DOSBox, so I couldn't get it running correctly. People were telling me previously how to get it to work, but at the time I didn't understand how to make configuration files, and haven't attempted to fix it yet now that I have a basic idea.

It also includes the sequel to the game, which works perfectly!

Currently I am working on the Amiga games again, going to redownload them from source sites to ensure they aren't corrupt and that I know where they came from. Added two more games to the list, WW2 GI and NAM, two build engine games. Still attempting to find Extreme Paintbrawl, as it would be an honor to play the only game to be rated under a 1 on IGN(besides another game that literally ripped off a different game, but that is cheating!). I would appreciate any titles you all may have recovered since the release of the torrent! I don't want to string the amounts of updates the torrent will have, so I want to get as many titles stuffed into each one as possible. I hope to only have to do it 3 times, and am putting a cap on that!

>> No.808379 [View]

Do any of you have the original Extreme Paintbrawl? Can you please upload it? I am adding it in the next update for the torrent, but cannot find a download for it, and this game is mandatory.

I hear it is the worst game ever oh boy

Just a quick update, the NES emulator included in the torrent will not have a UI for some reason. It may be because it is one of those "unpack where you play" kind of programs. That said, I unpacked the files into my downloads section, later moved the unpacked files, and did not replace the files with the .zip it came in because I didn't know.

THE BELOW PARAGRAPH CAN theoretically(as in, I haven't tried it) BE FIXED BY THIS HERE INSTRUCTION!
http://forums.emulator-zone.com/showthread.php?t=15849

Additionally, it may ask you to create folders within a user folder you don't even have(but you can just as easily select no multiple times and it will start up), so it may not even be usable(or it may just not save/additional items). This said, the below information MAY NOT EVEN WORK(excluding the redownloading of Nestopia from the host website of course).

If you are uninterested in playing the only game included for the NES in the torrent, this probably doesn't apply to you(since both the game and emulator are so small). If it does concern you, please re-download the files from this website.
http://nestopia.sourceforge.net/
this doesn't mean delete the .zip the files came in from the torrent

ALTERNATIVELY: You could simply drag and drop the .nes file on top of the Nestopia.exe file.

ANOTHER ALTERNATIVE: You could also make the file run by setting the default program to run the file to Nestopia.exe by right clicking the .nes file, selecting properties, selecting the "change" button next to "opens with", and selecting Nestopia.exe. This will allow you to simply double click on the .nes file, and it will auto open with Nestopia.

Also, there is a reason I chose Nestopia. It seems the other emulators don't quite play the game graphically proper(probably because it is a Famicom game).

I had forgotten to say many things at the release of the torrent. Here are the Amiga games if you can get them to work well. Would definitely appreciate tips and such to get those bastards working and running smoothly.
http://thepiratebay.sx/torrent/7376383/All_Amiga_First_Person_Perspective_Games

Sadly still no email back on the full version of Rodger Ramrod, I know you all wanted it so badly.

If interested, I can recommend titles for videogames to try after you download the shooter compilation torrent. Also, please do warn me if I included a faulty game or non-full game besides those already specified. I was unfamiliar with many of the titles and just did not know what the first level was supposed to be like, or what to even look for to tell if a game was a trial or not. Hope the torrent brings joy to many faces, and I hope it glues nostalgia goggles to many faces as well. Thank you LazyAnon for your amazing help on the torrent, and thank everyone else for your assistance as well.

My internet is back, its good that people are nearing completion.

>> No.788751 [View]

How many seeders does the torrent say it has? I hope at least one, because my internet is currently down. Sorry about that.

>> No.786915 [View]

>>785803
Sorry about that, uTorrent is only seeding to a single person(currently at 200 kbs), which is going to make this a much slower. I will keep my computer on for a couple days to seed until the torrents self sufficient, so you will just need to be patient. I already know its an ironic trawl post, but this needed to be said anyways.

>>786090
It is all fine. Just be wary, it is 8 gigabytes zipped, and 12 gigabytes unzipped.

>> No.784250 [View]

Are you ready for this?
http://thepiratebay.sx/torrent/8557820
Enjoy!

If you would please copy and paste the download into a separate place after downloading, so as to not disturb the seeding process, I would be very thankful.
If you cannot do this because space is an issue, I understand. It is a large file.
If you need somewhere to start, I can recommend a game or two.

To those of you who aren't aware:
I archviled the folders, so you will need archiving software to unzip the files. (http://www.7-zip.org/))
Many computers come with Winzip, which will work as well.

For those who don't know how to use a torrent:
You will need a bitorrent client to download the games. (http://www.utorrent.com/))
Seeding is when other people download the files off of you. It makes others downloads fast because they download from multiple places at once.
To begin seeding, all you have to do is download the files, and do not move the files, change the files in any way, nor delete the entry in your bitorrent client.

Alright, giving up on the Amiga emulator and its games. Having much too much difficulty with it, what with over 100 different ROMs, not knowing which are kickstart or not, game crashes, system crashes, red screen, orange screen, reboots, etc.. I will just supply a link to the guys torrent I obtained the files from when I post the torrent, which excluding the Amiga games makes it much closer to completion. I want this torrent to be complete, but it is difficult to distinguish if this is a first person shooter or a first person perspective torrent, what with the portion of other first person genre's included! It just never feels finished with all of these other additions opening up new doorways. I will post the torrent soon, maybe even within a week, probably earlier since the Amiga games are off my plate (for now). I am actually done with the torrent if keep my word of not adding anything else, and now need to do last minute preparations like virus scanning, ensuring that all help files are accounted for, zipping up each individual games folder, and actually creating and uploading the torrent. I will gradually update the torrent after its release, nothing immediate. I want it to feel more like a hobby and not a job!

I want people to have the option of either downloading all of the files at once for free, or just some, but I don't actually know how the site works. What is the file limit again? 50 gigabytes?

also I hate that damned site

I just feel more comfortable using torrents due to MEGA being unknown territory. Someone else can upload the files to MEGA or other sites when the torrent is finished, but it isn't going to be me! Sorry.

>> No.779590 [View]

>>779580
Alright, I will package them all separately, but please do download it all anyways! I hate to push that down others throats, but I cannot seed the files forever, and certainly do not want these files to die.

>> No.779527 [View]

Quick question, and no the torrent isn't done yet, but would you all mind if I archived the torrent into a single file? It is already much more files than thepiratebay will accept, and I will have to archive it anyways, but I mean archiving all the files into a single file? If you do not want that, I could just archive each file individually, but I believe it could be much easier and convenient if I just archive it into one file. Not to mention, and this is for my own greedy needs, but it would cut the file size down some, and also encourage people to seed the torrent. It would encourage them to seed the file, because it isn't as easy to accidentally alter the file by installing games/running them, and I already know not many people are going to copy and paste the entire directory into a separate place for the express intent of seeding the files.

This hurts. I really hate setting up computer emulators, I hope you all understand. I will just include the games, with text telling them what they need. Life is stressful enough! If I include Macintosh 7 emulation, then I would have to include Windows 95 emulation, and I really do not wish to go through the trouble of making sure the files work by installing everything, and writing text help files! This has helped me a lot, as I can now at least include the game, so thank you very much.
