I've beaten him at least 20-25 times or so, but always while heavily inebriated. When I'm sober, I get jumpy and over-predict everything which results in me dodging right into knockout punches. Need a few drinks to calm the nerves first and then I usually can beat him no problem.

0/10 is a bit harsh. That's like... crashes your system tier as far as ratings go. The game you posted is at least a 3. I mean it's not good at all, but come on. It at least boots.

Oh come on. This is practically a Polybius thread. Next thing you're going to tell me you found a copy of Petscop too.

That PVM is so nice looking... Want one bad. My Trinitron serves me fine in its own right til that day comes.

You know, I respect proper preservation of stuff hardcore, but Byuu just adds it to his personal collection of "perfect" dumps and says it's now saved. If there really is a need for these things to be redumped and whatnot, it's kindof dickish of him to not release the ones he claims are right for others to have access to. I think with this in mind, I'm just going to say no, not supporting that selfish autist.

Is this always the case? Just wondering if I should expect mine to get super brittle as a result.

Aliexpress has tons of them. They usually post the game lists with them too.

Interesting. I have a super fami that is quite yellowed as well. Picked it up in Tokyo a couple of weeks ago for 300 yen in a "broken" bin. Brought it home, plugged it in and it booted fine, had no issues so far. Plastic doesn't feel brittle or anything though. That's pretty weird. Hard to see, but mine is here >>4471823 and looks almost if not as yellowed as yours does.

I bought mine via Amazon (the one OP posted) with a gift card actually and I did disassemble the cart out of curiosity. No Famicom adapter inside that one, but results may vary.

>If they have the engineering skills to make a flashcart, they wouldn't have any problem with that. If they aren't able to write the code to autodetect what mapper to use they could even just use a physical switch.
I think it's less about whether or not it's possible and more that they don't really have to do it to sell the carts. They save money not doing so and on top of that, they can sell other multicarts with different ROM sets in the future. It's kinda win win for the seller, really.

Yeah, I was just thinking about this the other day. I have a few games on systems that are downloadable only and aren't even that these days if you didn't buy back in the day. I kinda hope by keeping them intact on my drives that I can somehow help preserve this stuff someday, but that's just a pipedream really. Preservation is one of the more interesting subjects to me, so I kinda get off on the idea of playing part in it.

This is the exact prediction I would make as well. Even if they made the (smart) choice to keep it 2D, that controller is made for fucking octopodes and wouldn't really cater to the precision you want in a game of that style. The Dpad is actually fine for it, but the real problem comes in with the button layout. Everything is kindof spread to far out excluding the A and B button unless you want to argue it should have had GBA controls, but those games feel strongly like they are dodging the limited button issue (see: no button to aim down+right). On a console, you shouldn't have to dodge these sorts of things. It made sense in the 80's, but games were still young back then. They had barely come far enough to necessitate things like that.

Had this game. It's kindof tragic really, the game has a fair amount of potential, but executes it like ass. Also is there even a reason to not just play as the warewolf form?

God tier thread.

Anyways, I don't emulate most of the time, but when I do, it's with ROMsets and typically a theme of some kind like games that are all nautical themed for example. Sticking to a theme forces you to discover new shit and often times you'll find a jewel here and there, but to be honest, you'll usually just find kuso. If you ask me though, that's really half the fun.

There is actually a simple equation to answer if a 5th gen title will be ugly.

If 3D = True, then Ugly = True

If 2D = True, then Beautiful sprites = True

Just a reminder that Mega Man 7 was developed in 3 months time and that game is fantastic.

First thing that comes to mind to me are things like mappers and enhancement chips. Just because the systems used generalized hardware at the time, didn't mean that the capabilities weren't different.
