Don't use continues ever and you'll be forced to "gain a deep appreciation of this genre" if you want to see all the art and hear all the music.

In my new pack that I'll promote on /v/, I'll go back to disabling continues for all games but leaving them otherwise default.

Hi I am making a new MAME shmup pack. It's been like 7 years but I am doing it again.

Does anyone have one of my later releases that I could use as a baseline so I don't have to do **all** of the work again? I found this one through Google but it's hella outdated and I know I released several after this.

I will probably end up working from scratch but w/e

>d1 likewise is arguably better than d2 because it's just paced so much better.

I tried replaying D1 recently and the horribly slow walking speed awkwardly locked to eight directions just kills it for me.

D1 is "paced better" in that it consists of a single, purposeful dungeon instead of sprawling pointless zones, but the actual moving-about-and-killing-shit in D2 is far more satisfying.

>D1 without the unofficial expansion

They stopped including Deeblo Classic years ago.

Ikeda, because Garegga is Yagawa's only true masterpiece and most of it had to do with the stark, stylized, unsurpassable aesthetic (which he didn't draw; he designed the game). Ikeda's talent endures and his formula has thoroughly stuck.

Just don't try to score in DonPachi at all, except for getting cheesy chains on the first stage which is otherwise a total non-event past the first few goes. DoDonPachi is where it's at.

DonPachi is worth it for the Toaplanness and the greatest announcer of all time.

4chan is whatever you want it to be, as whoever you want to be on it.

For that reason, most people elect to be subhuman, such as yourself. The rest of us don't give a fuck about your "culture".

Moreover, I've been lurking for over two goddamn years, and I don't need to be condescended to by some random self-oblivious prick.

I don't see how AMFV is "not much of an adventure game". It doesn't need to have puzzles arbitrarily integrated into the narrative to be an adventure game. It's brilliant exactly how it is, and precisely because it forgoes puzzles which would be detrimental to the setting. It's INFOCOM's finest work, imo.

Your posts are genuinely hilarious and worth reading this thread for.

There's nothing "slow" about the autoaim. It's intrinsically faster than without.

It's a really stupid thing to do, though. I guess it goes well with other stupid things like enabling a crosshair and full freelook in those gaudy OpenGL ports. But I just like playing DOOM the way it is.

>> No.849093 [View]

>>849056

It's not inherently because of "realism". The necessity of precision aiming automatically slows down the game considerably. DOOM is as fast as it is mainly because it is height-restricted and aiming is automatic. Even Quake, as unrealistic as they come, is considerably slower than DOOM.

DOOM is very arcade-like and I like it very much for that reason.

Best PC-exclusive arcade-style presentation I've seen is DJMAX Trilogy.

>If you don't know the meaning of a word

I know what fucking "subhuman" means, and I know exactly how I'm using it as applied to you. I asked what you being subhuman **meant** insofar as similarity to me having a tripcode, and answered it myself.

>it's condemning them, as it should.

Then the article is preaching to the choir who already plays by the goddamn rule, rendering it useless as anything other than desperate circlejerking.
