This is as good a time as any to talk about Gungriffon.

It's a kick-ass first-person mech game with mechs moving around like VOTOMs in Siberia. Better yet, the music's distinctive and it plays like a dream. Some vids:

>Lagoon
>Phalanx (Tiny Phalanx too)
>Genocide II/Squared
>Zero Divide 1/2/The Final Conflict
>Mister Mosquito

These guys rock, and more /vr/ troopers need to play their games. Here's an awesome intro: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pEGHQdANPds&t=16s

Here's their kick-ass music: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kkpX9_faYwc

Yeah, FM5's the shit. So awesome they got to conclude the chronology on a high note.

ZD did some cool things for the time. I know the Saturn version adds a then-requisite side-step function.

Ja. There are versions of it on the Sharp X68000, SNES, PS1, and WiiWare.

More folks need to play ZOOM's PC games, like Genocide II or Phalanx. They also did Mister Mosquito, but that's not retro.

I have a big pack of .MDX files taken from Sharp X68000 games and fan-sites. Lemme see if I can get it hosted.

It's really not a Zelda clone outside of the established adventure game tropes. I'd rather play Landstalker, this game's spiritual precursor, but both games are awesome.

Good choice, but it's got competition. Not to forget: this ZOOM game has a soundtrack just as worthy.

Might as well say books and magazines then. One translator's going to have a more deep-seated interest in games than anything else, same as with other mediums.

It's based on late-'80s Japan, so yeah.

Also: more Tokio 2. Screens of this are much harder to find.
