Yes and no. While it's true that the N64 library didn't really interest me, it's not that I was hankering for more traditional games. My favorite thing about the PS was strange new game types.

The N64 just didn't ever have a lot of games I really wanted to play for whatever reason. That doesn't make it bad, just not a system for me.

I don't think 2D/3D matters as much. There were open world 3D games already, but what most people usually mean by open world now are GTA derivatives. GTA was pretty much the same thing when it was 2D though. And even though Retro City Rampage is a 2D game, it's very much a modern open world game. Similar to Terraria is definitely a Minecraft variant even though it's 2D.

That's what almost this whole thread has been. OP is certified retarded.

Even still though, at the very least in terms of camera controls 3D games have come a long way. Also there's most certainly some 3D control schemes that are worse than others. As great a game as Tail of the Sun is in many ways, it's camera really sucked and that took away from the game somewhat.

Arcanum: Of Steamworks & Magick Obscura, Dagger Fall, Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy IX, and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis/ Biohazard 3: Last Escape all have crafting systems.

For a game that's more simular to it in feeling, I'd say Tail of the Sun.
