This is the only game that captures the feeling of a classic, Howard barbarian. You can never wildly swing your weapon like mindless brute and expect to win and have to think about your strikes and learn how to evade your opponent's blows, but when you do master this, you become a killing machine using your skill and grace

Are there any retro PC games that punish you for savescumming? The only two I can think of came in the early 2000's, Severance: Blade of Darkness and Postal 2. Severance gives you a rank based on how many times you save. In Postal 2, the main character will insult you ("My grandma could beat this game if she saved as much as you").

How has there not been a game with melee combat as good as Severance since its release?

I just started a new game with the knight, I forgot how good the combat in this game was. What are your thoughts on Blade of Darkness?
