This genuinely one of the best Zelda like games and it's almost never discussed.

>> No.6766162

I see it discussed here and there

>> No.6766163

I suppose it's not unknown, but it's a real hidden gem and it's a shame the developer isn't around anymore.

>> No.6766228

maybe because its related to working design?
everyone on /vr/ goes fucking reeeeeeee everytime their name pops up.

>> No.6766235

has too many puzzles tho. it gets annoying

>> No.6766362

It had great atmosphere but was a little directionless at points.

>> No.6766368

Shits the bed hard towards the last few dungeons, especially the last one. Great soundtrack, great art style, story's interesting enough to keep players going, fucking loads of puzzles, and I feel like most of the items you get are under-utilized.
Also the balloon shooting puzzles suck a fat one.

8/10 PSone game would recommend to anyone

Wrong, they are still alive. The Brigandine sequel was done by Matrix and that came this year.

All correct. This game sets its tone with the mine carts in the very first dungeon: slow and plodding switch puzzles everywhere. Everything about this game goes on too long. Evidently, the American release has easier, shorter boss fights, but they still go on forever.

You got it backwards, the US version had HP pools inflated because Working Designs thought it'd be more exciting.

Yeah, I’d advise getting the un-working designs mod if you want to play it now

Anyone complaining about working design is underage. Without them, many of these games wouldn’t have been localized at all

>> No.6768862

They still a pretty poor job with a lot of those games. But yes, they brought them to the states and brought attention to them.

Minors don't know or care what that is, the game is old enough to have grandsons.

lunar 1 and 2 complete balance wasnt too bad. it made the games more challenging instead of being piss easy like the japanese versions. just look at silver harmony where the games difficulty becomes a joke to play through because it has zero changes from the japanese version.
ofc they go overboard and makes unbeatable shits like silhouette mirage as well...

>> No.6769114

>>6766154
Play with the patch that restores the enemy and damage values from the Japanese version that were changed thanks to Working Designs bullshit.

The flavourful translations are mostly fine, it’s changes to the gameplay that makes them shitty

Alundra takes everything that is wrong with Zelda, and fixes it. Its only crime is that it was on the plebstation.

Why is that a problem?
What is with all the console war shit invading this board, most people here are idorts

But I actually liked playing the Zelda games - all of them. They were fun, engaging, inspired feelings of wonder and mystery and actually made me want to explore their worlds.

Alundra was boring, drab, plodding, unengaging and overlong with a maze-like overworld constructed without any sense of thought or cohesion behind it.

no. It doesn't. One of Zelda's biggest problems is under-utilized items. The Sand and Water Cloaks are one and done deals.

>> No.6772312

>>6770062
also they put those golden bird to collect and if you miss some of them during the game you might not be able to collect them after some sequences so you are unable to get the final sword.

Also i played an indie game called Cross Code and i want you to know this game have similar side to Alundra, dungeons are most likely similar to puzzle from Alundra, you should check it yourself even if it's not really a fantasy game.

it's the best Zelda clone only because there were not a lot of Zelda clones in general.

Is there a hack that readjusts the balance changes? The bosses were rendered tedious and too easy, would be nice to play it how it was intended.

Guess I should have read the thread.
