Greeting anons,

I'm a system administrator from The-Eye.eu. The Eye is an open directory based file-archive, currently hosting around 22 terabytes of data. Out of those 22 terabytes, over 3 terabytes are reserved for retro gaming roms and iso's.

As of today, we host ad-free, bullshit free direct downloads for over 50 gaming consoles, with a possibility to download romsets in bulk using tools like wget. We also offer romsets that we do not host publicly on request via our Discord server, as long as you are able to set up a valid rclone endpoint for us.

We currently serve around 900 terabytes of data each month, while keeping the site completely ad-free, paying the bills from our pockets. We're here to keep digital history alive and we're doing our part to keep the romscene alive and intact.

If you have any questions regarding the site or our operation, feel free to ask. I will be replying to all of your questions.

Your Sega Saturn and Playstation collections are pretty good, but I wonder if you'd let me upload some of the rarest NTSC-J games to it. Some of the stuff (like the VOTOMS games) was pretty hard to find even when Loveroms and Emuparadise were alive.

>> No.5074571

You're pretty cool but I believe the snes romset is the same incomplete one from old archive with no chrono trigger, some Mega Man etc.

Hello, friend.

It would be cool if you had NTSC-J collections.

thank fucking god. These things are a massive pain in the ass to obtain due to a lot of the games being jap-only and the saturn being a relatively obscure console in the west compared to the ubiquity of others like the NES, N64, PS1, etc.

Do you have any plans to publically host PSP games in the future? They're quite difficult to find compared to the DS that came out the same year. Is it the file-size of the games that's the problem? Thanks for your contributions

Filesize is the main problem. We dont have funding to upgrade our servers at this time.

Thanks for your reply dude, it sounds like someone has contacted you on behalf of Nintendo about the site. Do you plan to pull the plug when things get risky or are you confident in your anonymity? I don't know how risky it is asking these questions but if there was ever a place

figured I'd ask in this thread instead of making one for a simple question: can I find redump or no-intro for all japanese games on famicom, super famicom and playstation?

not asking for a link (idk if that's ban worthy around here) just curious if they exist

We are DMCA compliant and we make 0 profit from the content, nintendo has asked us to remove games in the past and we have done so. Nintendo is only agressive towards sites who market and profit off their IP (eg. LoveRoms)

Not available en masse or through public trackers. A lot of the time you have to track them down individually through shitty sites like emuparadise, coolroms, romhustler, etc that make you have to go through virus-laden ad sites each time you download, and then the iso is broken and gives you a drink coaster anyway.

Yeah, why did you guys get rid of your manga collection before you switched over? It used to be under Datahoarder, but then it disappeared. You guys had some rare shit in there.

>> No.5076783

Are you ever going to consider actually archiving everything? Like getting all games for every single system. For example you're missing more obscure systems like Acorn Archimedes or Memorex VIS, lots of collections also aren't even collections or are really barebones. 3DO and CDI missing tons of JP games, Apple Pippin only has like 10% of the games that were on it. Also there's that Win3x collection which is kind of random and is missing tons of games not preserved well (see Legendsworld).

I'd imagine the problem being that some of it is still being updated quite frequently. OPL for example didn't get a "number" release for a few months (years?) already but everyone is using the git builds anyways, with some people prefering the fork over the main repo. How would one handle that? Keep the most up-to-date build? Keep every build? Keep just the number releases? Who would update it that often?

Get the DSiware set on there.
It's only out there as a 5GB rar 03-08-2018 full set on mega with no individual downloads, which is inconvenient.
No one else hosts them because they either confuse DSi-enhanced DS retail releases with it, or because they have no idea how to open them (no$gba)

Do you have opinions on IPFS or similar systems?
Do you think they will help archive permanence and prevent DMCA censorship?
I'm very unhappy with how many services have gone down and how much data has been lost recently.

Ah the world we think we live in. I remember back in the day I was all worried about the feds coming to bust me for uploading a few hundred gigs of data linked to a site that we thought was compromised. Turns out a competing site hacked it and threw the fake takedown notice up. Good times.

Well the Eye of Horus has the connotation of being the "all-seeing eye", which is pretty fitting for an archive
