Can we have a 3rd party controller thread?

Pic related, sorta the same kind I had when I would play tekken on the PS2 for hours, the thing had fucking fans in the handles. No regrets were made.

I have pic related since sometime around 2003, it's bulky as fuck so I removed the stupid silver thingy and brown pieces of the back, once that was done it turned out to be neat for playing pc games and it also can be hooked up to a ps2 & ps3. some friends are jelly as fuck that I have it since it looks like something straight out of fallout in their heads it seems.

I bought this for £2 at my local gamestore. It was for charity and I needed a second controller.

This thing is better than the official PS2 controller. Comfy as fuck.

They used to sometimes be better than 1st party.

Now they're of a lower price and lower quality. I had a N64 controller that made me superior in goldeneye for years. Then the analogue stick broke off and all I'm left with is a metal insert. That and a standard controller that went loose on me.

I hate Ebay but it's a good thing they were around to order a spare interact controller. The things they made are great. They're from the UK right? I'm from the US and it's the only good product from them I've had. Apparently the UK can make a fine game, and a fine game controller.

How accurate are the analogs?

I have this N64 controller which kicks ass, face buttons are like nothing else, D-pad is great and the analog stick is super solid. It's super grooved on the bottom as well, so when you're using the D-pad and face buttons it's like you're holding two small rocks or something.

I currently have the misfortune of playing on this thing. Sorry for the shit-tier photo, but it really is a shit-tier controller. The plastic is even cheaper than it looks, it really feels horrible. The joystick's in okay condition, but sometimes it leans either up or down. There's a slow motion and autofire button, neither of which I have found useful in a single game outside of Mario Party, and I do that shit fair and square. The sticker on the back says it's an "InterAct Sharkpad Pro". Whoever owned this previously must have tried to take it apart, because the plastic is chipped around the screwholes and some screws have the "x" gouged out.

I also have this PS3 controller licensed by EB games for no good reason, I happened to have a 30 dollar gift voucher for them so I grabbed what I could find. It claims to have analog triggers on the box but they're actually digital which sucks. Great for Earthbound though.

The analogs are a bit looser than the standard controller but seem to be fine. Probably just as good.

Best thing about it is if you have big hands, it is much more comfortable to hold than a PS2/PSX controller.

>> No.390607

The SuperPad 64 is probably the worst controller I have ever owned. The analog stick works, right up until the 'head' snaps off and all you're left with is the stick. It's fucking thick, awkward, the buttons are hard to reach (and that's an accomplishment- my hands are too large to use a GBA or anything smaller than a mk1 DS/3DSXL, and the Xbox Duke was actually comfortable) and when you can reach them, they wobble. -20/10, holy shit, I'd rather try to play Mario 64 with the Hey You Pikachu mic using voice commands than go through that literally bloodied-thumb nightmare ever again.

My brother kept buying these stupid fucking things as replacements for breaking my stock controllers, and every single one ended up getting the analog stick end covered in tape to make it somewhat usable.

I'll take myself to >>>/v/ now to atone for my outburst, I'm sorry, but holy shit.

Just wanted to bump this thread with a success story.

I've been looking for an upgrade/replacement for my Logitech F310 that I spilled a beer on. Went to Best Buy (fucking never again), hit up a Gamestop (probably never again), and the local Target and Wal-Mart looking for a decent, semi-inexpensive USB controller for emulators. There isn't shit out there apparently. Not sure what that's all about, I remember being able to find these things quite easily in the past.

Anyway, I came across this on Amazon during an extensive search for a good controller. I was about to buy one of those receivers for wireless 360 controllers, but then I saw this.

Very solid controller with features the regular 360 controllers don't have (turbo/analog sensitivity slider/6 face buttons). Just wanted to share in case anybody else has been on the hunt for a great controller.

This is what I use to play Metal Slug Anthology on PS2. I got it for 15$ at a thrift shop. Its great for Metal Slug and fighters.

Remember in the torture scene in Metal Gear Solid, Revolver Ocelot says "don't even think about using auto-fire, or I'll know."

I used a Madcats controller like the one in Op's pic and I beat the torture scene easily with auto-fire. I've heard people say that auto-fire controllers will work if they are made after MGS was made, but something will happen if you use an auto-fire controller before MGS was made.

the only bad thing about this is the head of the analogue stick not being rounded at the edges, meaning extended use can be irritating and the fact it's wonky

it's perfectly fine apart from that

Noice bro. I don't how good their sticks were back then, but if they're anything like the ones they make now, that things is SOLID.

Here's what I got. I had one that was weird. It had a hole in the middle of the d-pad and this little plastic thumbstick went into it. It was for Genesis.

Pulled this thing out of storage, along with many other controllers for many different platforms.

Fucker mostly works, for some reason I get some problems with the shoulder buttons in emulators, so I just stick with my PS3 controller.

Left is a "Tesun", very cheap, bizarre problem with the analog where it won't go all the way up the Y axis ingame, but apart from that is good for a bit of dicking about on emus.
Right is a Saitek P380, I spent £5 on this quite a few years ago when I first got into PSX emulation, the shoulder buttons require the force of a thousand suns to work and the D-Pad is the worst I have ever used, ever, also, the analog sticks are completely plastic with no rubber coating, which even the damn Tesun managed to have.

That was actually a pretty nice PC gamepad back in the early-mid 90s. Too bad it lacked shoulder buttons though, so it wouldn't be desirable for SNES emulation.

Me and a friend also had that same controller, and just like you mentioned not of them had the analog sticks break off. Was there a known problem with the plastic they used for those sticks? I personally liked that controller, but because of the broken stick had to use the claw controller that came with the system...Now that thing was a nightmare for me. The position of the middle grip and analog stick just hurt my hands to use for long periods of time....but that controller was built from nintendium so it , unlike my super pad 64, has lasted me till this day.
