>Board can be fixed by reverting the retro rule, so that Gamecube, Dreamcast and all that generation go to /v/

>Make it so troll threads actively hating on a game are a bannable offense

>> No.10826801

Is banning talking about Super Monkey Ball really going to make the board better?

>> No.10826807

>>10826796
I wanted a Halcyon video game board, so sixth and seventh gen only. I feel like seventh has been shafted, no one will discuss them in earnest on /v/, they are of course not even allowed on /vr/.
It really blew my mind they made boards for RPGs and Strategy games instead. /vst/ is like a ghost town.

When /vr/ was founded, even 5th discussion wasn't allowed. We should go back to that because unless you somehow think Image #3 is the odd one out here, 3D gaming is obviously not retro.

>> No.10826816

It's not gonna happen but /v2k/ really was the best solution.
We just aren't allowed to have nice things, simple as.

>> No.10826829

why is there always like 7 or so threads of random nes threads, some even are just the title of the game and nothing else

>> No.10826839

>>10826816
/vr/ should be 1-4th gen, and /v2k/ should be 5th-7th gen. I see no reason why Space Invaders should share a board with Halo 2 but not Halo 2 with Halo 3

>> No.10826840

>>10826829
Australia-kum trying to convince people that the NES isn't good.
He thinks by posting threads on random NES games people will say NES is bad but it just never happens.
He keeps trying, though.

Auster is the best reason to have a /v2k/ board. He won't be able to talk about the Speccy on /v2k/ and he'd have no central hub to complain about Treasure since their works would be split across boards.

>> No.10826850

>>10826840
There's a reason I don't believe in romsets, and curate my own roms. It's because the NES is full of crap.

>> No.10826853

>>10826839
I'd allow 5th gen games made before 1996 on /vr/. Where do you draw the line on PCs, though? Most people software-rendered their way through late 90's games.

>> No.10826854

>>10826846
Auster already posts on /v/ anyway, he would do the same on /v2k/. I like seeing his posts anyway, not because I agree with him but as a schadenfreude sort of feel.

>> No.10826858

>>10826840
Its funny because when you go into those threads most replies are either inane shit (even off topic) and maybe one guy talking about playing it when he was a kid, wouldn't surprise me its just him samefagging.

>> No.10826863

>>10826796
Add "flagrant fanboy shit" and "participating in or instigating a flamewar" as report reasons for /vr/.

>Auster already posts on /v/ anyway
Which is where he belongs, but I digress; spreading him thin is preferred.

32-bit PC games should go on /v2k/

That DBZ Butoden2 autist is pretty funny.

Do you guys think "three times" autist is actually auster, or just a different schizo who also happens to have a raging hateboner for the SNES?

>> No.10826893

I agree, but the damage is done. The demographics have shifted, and the board is a shadow of itself.

It's clearly Australia

/g/ has the rule, so /vr/ should also have it

>> No.10826897

>>10826796
The reason we will never have /v2k/ is due to advertising. Ads get to target specific boards, and someone who wants to target a demographic of "retro" will want their ads to have as much reach as possible with respect to "retro". Splitting the audience across boards would not be in advertisers' interest. As far as the general public, advertisers, and even /vr/ (based on how little shitflinging there is compared to other boards) are concerned, the NES and PlayStation 2 are both retro and have a common audience in the year of our Lord 2024.

>> No.10826901

The real elephant in the room is... Why was the IP counter removed? It's like 4chan is now inviting samefags to post.

>> No.10826902

>>10826796
Actually, the real way to improve the board is to allow 7th gen.

>> No.10826913

>>10826902
Honestly? Just allow 8th as well. People who are now 20 were little kids when PS4 released.
Just make /vr/ the board for all the stuff that isn't current.
Old /vr/ was nice but it's dead. May as well go full retard and turn this board into a full clown /v/ clone

>> No.10826912

It clearly shows that 4chan staff engage in samefaggotry.

The PS4 is still getting games though.

At this point in time, board development seems to have completely ceased site-wide. We're pretty much stuck with the boards and rules last decided upon years ago now. This type of thread is, unfortunately, fruitless as a result. Hiroshimoot and his "team" have completely stopped giving a shit about bettering this site, let alone /vr/.

This makes the most sense to me. I always mentally divided "new" games as starting with the first generation designed primarily for 3D. Although I started coming here more frequently after the rule change, since I mostly play 5th/6th gen, I felt bad for the older anons that got their once comfy board overrun by late millennials and zoomers.

I used to be in the "allow 6th gen" camp and I partied when the rule change happened, dabbing on the old userbase.
I regret it now.

Off-topic, but has anyone actually ever gotten banned for submitting a false or misclassified report? I've made tons of joke reports over the years and never once got warned or banned for it.

Someone posted child porn on /gif/, so I reported it, and then got banned for a false report. I went to the IRC to complain, and the mod immediately insisted it wasn't child porn. I showed them proof the girl in the video was underage and my ban still didn't get lifted.

Yes, let's remove all the fun parts of /vr/. Those troll posts lead to entertaining threads. I'm getting Discord mod vibes from some of you.
