Emulation for older games is dogshit. I played Tekken 3 on an emulator and I wasn't impressed. Later played it on Playstation and holy shit did it feel a million times better. If you're trying to play a game on new hardware that was designed for older hardware, it will never feel the same. Older Playstation games feel a hundred times better on an actual console. If you've only ever played an older game emulated, you haven't truly played it.

>> No.9994576 [DELETED]

>>9994567
I'm sure you didn't play it on an age accurate CRT television did you? eh, though so.
You will never have really played the game if you didn't play it on an age accurate CRT television that has been used only the same amount of time a TV from that time would have been used, with age-accurate cables in a room that has not seen anything moved, refurbished, or changed since the age-accurate time of the game.
And do you hear any noise from the outside that is not age accurate? Maybe a car engine that did not exist at the time? Sorry kiddo, you didn't really play the game. But maybe that's enough for a pseud like you.

It's many factors, including the tv set that your ps1 is connected to and the emulator that you have used. Right now you are generalizing and basically talking out of your ass.

Goddamn I love Need for Speed: High Stakes, it's so nostalgic to me.

It was in this game that I discovered the greatest car to ever exist.

I use keyboard on my laptop.

F gas
E brake
R handbrake
Left/right arrows

It's alright. These old games are easier to play with digital.

NFS: Porsche Unleashed is just the best. The psx version is interesting, but inferior.

nfs high stakes isn't a sprite\tile based 2d game.
nothing wrong with playing native res of course, but antialisasing wouldn't have drawbacks. also, 150% overclock is too low for this game, about 400% is good for stable 60 fps.

You’re wrong, too. NFS4 featured an F1 GTR ‘97 longtail, not an F1 GT.

Interestingly, the CLK-GTR in OP is also the racing version. No idea why EA decided to use the race cars instead of the road cars.

Because they are... cooler? They are also raced on race tracks unlike the rest of the game. This game has an insanaly good sense of progression, you truly feel each class advance, and difficulty difference is higher each time.

I never beat the final tournament in the game with the Mclaren F1 and the Mercedes CLK.

It's the only instance I remember where I truly wanted to beat a game and put effort in it but just wasn't good enough and I never got over it.

It's been many, many years since I was young playing this game all night and it's about time I settle this.

Good news, you can support Nintendo in their effort to stop emulation by buying a Switch and paying for their overpriced subscription service that will never include every game. Of course if you want, you can also support scalpers and FPGA developers by paying for their games and flash carts/ODE's on eBay or their official sites. Of course this probably won't stop people from emulating, but I'm sure it will be more effective than complaining about emulation on /vr/.
