Wrong. It's GZDoom, which nowadays is effectively Unity with as many bells and whistles attached to it, yes it's designed to run Doom WADs and .pk3s, but people have made standalone games with it.
So what you should be saying is:

I can guarantee you that the majority of the modern Doom players use GZDoom with hardware rendering. Not saying it's a good thing though, I personally use Woof
