I can't play it without the Spencer Nilsen soundtrack OP. That would be like eating a chilli dog without the chilli

JP.
No fault for the US musicians, but they're soundtrack is blatantly unfinished. There's great pieces in there, but its surrounded by mediocrity

Why did it have a different soundtrack in different regions anyway?

SEGA USA thought that the music in the JP/PAL release wouldn't appeal to Americans. So they had a new, more rock oriented soundtrack made.

Honestly, it's easy to criticize the decision now but I can sorta see where they were coming from. Too bad they were both dead wrong, and also didn't give the US musicians enough time to really make something good.

Amerishart music will never be as good as JP/EU music

I'm a JP/PAL guy but I really like this

Sounds like a Rouge stage from SA2 before the game.

JP/PAL soundtrack for like 90% of it but some of the USA tracks are good specifically the intro video.

Kek, your region can't afford getting its own soundtrack. Who will pay for your gibs, otherwise?

Is there a hack that finishes the US soundtrack? When using the US soundtrack, half the time you will be listening to the JP past songs anyway.

Why not both?
Boss theme is INFINITELY funkier in JP version, though. Same with special stage theme

JP soundtrack all the way. Imagine needlessly changing something only to end up with an inferior result. The same mindset at Sega of America led to the downfall of Sega.

They don't know

JP is consistently good, works as game music and sonic music.
US is pretty good atmosphere, but barely fits the game, doesn't exactly fit for a platformer like sonic CD.

While i'm agree with this >>9967879
I just want to say Spencer Nilsen is terribly underrated composer.
Aside from vidya music, he created some other good stuff. I recommend just get some tea and check his "Architects of Change" album, if you haven't.
