Super Mario RPG feels like a summer vacation to me- takes the characters out of their usual environments, introduces lots of new ones, many of the environments are warm - beaches, swamps, deserts etc. The pacing and difficulty is relatively light and breezy.

Nuclear Winter is trash garbage, but some people like it for the old kitsch value. D.C is like, alright, some people like it a lot, and it has its strong sides, but I think it drags in some aspects.

Caribbean is however very good, the levels are largely very well made, and the music together with everyone and everything reskinned for a tropical vacation theme is genuinely incredibly charming. I think it's one of the best parts of Douk 3D, if you love the base game, you should give this one a go.

It only made sense to us. Maybe it also comes into play that we were Europeans and English wasn’t our first language but winter and summer are pretty much the same word. What’s also interesting: we didn’t have duke it out in dc. Maybe we had but I never saw anyone who had it or when we talked about Duke it was only winter and summer and later atomic edition which had rebirth and other maps but was that really atomic? I remember like in 2005 I’ve played a version which replaced the 2D enemy sprites with 3d models, same for the guns and I know atomic edition was a thing but not sure what exactly and what this version was.
I mean there also was world tour where I remember the Amsterdam map.

Fuck I’m so out of this entire duke nukem 3d rabbit hole. Can someone give me a quick run down of all those versions and additions please.

But the use of that wall texture is so disgusting. Just as the super ugly carpet and yes I see that they are hiding a dick in there. The gradient on the text is ugly.

"Atomic Edition" just means the full game with the fourth episode, like Doom vs "Ultimate Doom." The expansions all came in the Megaton Edition, which was pulled when Gearbox released the 20th Anniversary, which contains the new World Tour episode. The 3D models you saw were probably the High Resolution Pack, or HRP, which is a mod.

Your best bet for playing Duke is to go into the MEGA link in the Retro FPS thread and download the game and its expansions (I think they also have World Tour's episode in there too). After getting it, run it in the EDuke32 source port (though there's more ports now since the old days, so you should consider doing some legwork to see which ones have the features you most like).

That's an unlicensed NES cartridge, yeah. Quite a lot of companies made unlicensed games, and they tended to each have their own style, AVE there had those matted black cartridges, Color Dreams/Wisdom Tree had some baby blue ones, and Tengen, probably the most prolific producer of unlicensed cartridges at the time (at least in North America), had this kind, which is a glossy black with a rounded/slanted top. Tengen also actually did some licensed games at first, so you can find proper gray Nintendo ones of theirs, some which they continued making as unlicensed ones later.
