Hello /vr/ need some advice, I own a PlayStation TV, a Super Nintendo mini, and plan on getting a PlayStation 3 to play the old Resident Evil, SMT games and anything else that catches my eye, I was wondering if it's worth getting a CRTV/Tube Television to play these games on or if I should just stick to a more modern television.

It's worth it but you've made the wrong decisions thus far in supporting it.

None of those systems support 240p.
Get a Wii with a Pro Controller for SNES games and a PS1 for PS1 games. Much cheaper than getting a PS3.

The games on the mini are the only ones I'm really interested in, so I won't bother with the Wii suggestion. And the main reason I'm getting a PlayStation 3 is to get games from all three eras because I honestly don't have that much space for that many consoles.

For all the hardware you've already chosen to use, you want a modern TV. A CRT would look better with the appropriate hardware, but you seem unwilling to jump through any hoops for that.

Got any hardware you're willing to recommend then?

Hacked wii gives you everything up to and including snes/genesis, a good chunk of the n64 library, and the entire gc/wii library. It also outputs 240p. You can find them for like 50 bucks, find a crt for free, and you’ve got yourself a decent /vr/ setup.

Also you can find modded ps1s on eBay for less than 100. Games with pre-rendered backgrounds like resident evil and a lot of ps1 rpgs look like pixel vomit on modern displays, a crt is the only way to play them.

>CRT, Free
Not anymore unless it's a shit one from the 70s or you get super lucky and spot one near a neighbors trash bin. If you want a decent 27' CRT your looking at spending at least $100. A Wega will cost you anywhere from $200-$400 depending on size nowadays.

With those systems I think you're better off with the HDMI TV you already have

Find a broken keyboard or something and take it to your local landfill’s electronics recycling area. You’ll find a free crt.

You're not gonna hack the Vita TV to play PS1 games, or do you want to play PS2 as well?

You're going to be disappointed when you learn that CRT's don't have an HDMI port and therefore can't play PSTV or Super Nintendo Mini. Just buy a modern TV, PS3 was made for 1080p

Remember when people had trouble reading the text in Xbox 360 games because they didn't have an HDTV? I do. It made pic related a lot more annoying to play

Yeah and Demon's Souls.
I'm a retard when it comes to computers and I known I'll brick whatever console I try to mod.

Wow dude. Just stick with modern shit at that point. You sound young and no $$$. Best solution for you is probably to emulate.
My only other advice is that if you manage to get a CRT, scrape together the money to buy a working PS1. You can do tonyhax with it (just buy the memcard) but you also sound kinda clueless and probably don't know how to burn CDs.
>>9948378
People in Halo 3 would always misread my name if they had a CRT. But I played on one too and didn't have problems reading stuff until GTA4 came out.

Stick to a modern tv, hack the PSTV and get an SD2VITA and micro SD card. Hack the SNES Mini and PS3 while you're at it too.

On /vr/, seething over incompetence, specifically towards those that can't at least softmod or not knowing how to set up a flash cart, is more than justified. OP has demonstrated as such.
CRT vs Modern displays argument won't end no matter how much time passes.
