Has anyone here tried these Bluetooth adapters for retro consoles?
Was considering getting one for my N64 (I have a Switch Pro Controller).

No, but if I did I'd get the brawler64 I guess.
I don't like using wireless, even if I have to buy an extension cable.

I was looking for some videos and it says there's no input lag and that they emulate both rumble pak and controller pak (for the cpak you have to format it with the hold start on boot trick).

Got 8 bitdo for snes and nes blutooth, also have the krikkz for genesis and the saturn wireless one from retro bit. They all work fine really, no issues. I'd have wires everywhere otherwise. Only time I had an issue is when I put an electric fan right in front of the receiver of the krikkz.

its based on open source hardware they're apparently pretty good they have bluetooth low latency mode. If you really wanted to you can make your own PCB..

I have one for GameCube which I use for Gameboy player. They're pretty good and you can plug it into your computer and remap the buttons for basically any computer. The interface for that can be confusing at first. But it's a solid device

Another anon said it worked in another thread. Here’s another Bluetooth connecting to an NSO controller but not that exact one. https://youtu.be/Pt0nLlfek_w

>> No.9943507

If you're playing on original or clone hardware, 8bitdo makes wireless controllers that do not use Bluetooth. They have slightly better latency. I have a few of them for my SNES, Genesis and NES systems but I'm not sure if they have an N64 one yet.

I use the single port bluetretro with a NSO N64 controller and don't notice any lag. It's just annoying to use with memory card games if you want to enable rumble since you have to disconnect the controller to switch the rumble pak and memory card back and forth. A 4 port dongle might be better for that though since it might still allow a phone to connect when less than 4 controllers are connected. It allows you to select "both" but that doesn't work with any games I've tried.

how many blocks does the virtual memory card have?
regular controller paks usually have 123 blocks available.

>> No.9944083

>>9944034
It has 4 banks with 123 blocks each.

oh its like those performance controller paks? that's cool.

Can you plug it in to a pc to archive saves?

>> No.9944189

>>9944176
Yup, likely also so you can put 1 bank on each controller for the 4 port dongles.
>>9944180
You can connect to it via Bluetooth and visit https://blueretro.io/ to download/upload saves and config everything. The 4 port dongles have a USB port but it says it's just for firmware updates.

bought one of these, it should arrive in a few weeks, can you remap the buttons?
can you have macros too? i like being able to use the right stick for c-buttons but also using X & A on my switch controller for C-up and C-Right respectively.
If they work well I might look for one for my PS2.

Yeah this is the interface. I never even noticed the home and screenshot buttons were mapped to toggling mem pak/rumble and switching banks by default. I looked into the PS2 one but rumble not with being completely implemented yet I might stick with a USB Bluetooth dongle with OPL.

I don’t know the answers but when you get it, update us! Thinking I may snag one just to try it out.

oh nice, cant wait to get one and try the rumble function, switch pro's vibration is pretty good.
One last thing, do I have to update the firmware by connecting it to a pc?
on the page it says:
> Please do not update the official firmware of darthcloud, it will cause problems such as wrong indicator lights and controller failures! The firmware used by this Blueretro converter is a recompiled version, which is different from the official darthcloud firmware. If you need to update, go to this link to download the firmware: https://github.com/RetroScaler/N64-Blueretro

Mine came with the latest FW installed already but I got it from 8bitmods. If it says 1.8.3 when you connect to it you shouldn't have to.

And yeah you can update the firmware via the web interface as well.

I have something similar for the dreamcast. It's the Brook Wingman SD. Mainly got it for fighting games but found out that playing through things like RE2 and Dynamite Cop that the XBONE controllers work pretty damn good for the dreamcast.

>>9944304
On the PS1/2 versions do they support pressure sensitive buttons when used with a DS3?

>> No.9945541

>>9944935
Blueretro doesn't have pressure sensitivity yet but the Brook one does. Apparently it's on the roadmap.

I wish BlueRetro had PS2 multitap. But PS1 multitap will suffice for today.
