Pretty much depending on the girl, if it's /vr/ usually Animal Crossing, Harvest Moon, Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts. There's also the Sailor Moon and Hello Kitty/Sanrio games, or Touhou depending on how niche they are. I do have a supervisor who likes Silent Hill but I don't think most girls play that one. Younger girls rarely play /vr/ and mostly spend their time with Amogus, Genhin Impact, or Geometry Dash or something

i honestly don't think alot of people in general play old school RPGs outside of a very core niche nowadays while the people outside that niche who would be interested in them are probably playing TTRPGs instead.

i remember a post by gygax where he talks about the women in the hobby from his days and it can be boiled down to "women like fluff over crunch" which is what alot more modern RPGs focus on nowadays.

I'm female and I miss rts and simulation business games from late 90s early 2000s before the ugly 3d was popular like command and conquer, age of empires, civ 3, impressions games city builder games, zoo tycoon. I also liked adventure simulation games like vet emergency, petz 5, games from the let's ride series, Nintendo games, adventure games, rpg games like Morrowind/oblivion and jrpgs(though that is more of a recent interest), but I just don't have as much time now. I like Mario and have recently been getting into the old 2d Mario games but they're very difficult for me, I didn't grow up with 2d platformers as they were too difficult when I was a kid compared to other games where you could pretend more, the few that I did have were on PC like this Mario emulation game and prince of Persia. I probably would like horror games but I haven't played them yet, I have a long backlog. I used to play a lot of English visual novels too, later on though I also went into Japanese adventure and vns. I used to be really good at super smash bros in my circle of friends and would beat males etc, but that is far different from ranking up online, in a somewhat official setting. I like other genres too but they aren't /vr/ like mobas.

I know a girl from high school who is an absolute beast at PVP games (masters in League, grandmaster in SC2, completely demolished me and all my friends with her Potemkin when GGST came out and got Celestial within a few days and maintained it, plays a shit ton of other fighting games, destroys us in Mordhau, etc) and has challenge runs in all the “hard” single player games like character fighting games (DMC, GodHand, etc), roguelikes and even shit like Doom and Blood Brothers.
If you played with her in a multiplayer game you would never know she’s a girl and IRL she’s pretty shy and reserved, she just lurks in our server and only joins chat if her boyfriend’s in the call.

It was just a deploy buildings, deploy units type game to me, same as pharaoh Cleopatra and stronghold kek. I never played competitive, to be fair. I had no idea there was a competitive scene. I learned about fps pros before I knew there was shit like that, and I didn't like fps games for the most part. My mom and my sister have always been into video games.
My mom grew up with an Intellivision and a 2600. My granddad bought her a PC Jr. when she went off to college, and that's when she started playing PC games. She played all of the Space Quest and Police Quest games, the Lara Bow games and most of the King's Quest games. I think she mentioned having played Wing Commander as well. She also played several installments of The Sims and SimCIty, and played a handful of different MMOs in the 2000s.
My sister was born in 1998, so I can't really share many retro games she played, but she has also been into video games since she was a little kid. Kirby Superstar, Pokemon, The Sims 1 & 2, Zoo Tycoon, a myriad of PopCap games, Animal Crossing and Tetris. She's pretty vicious in Tetris 99.

Every girl I've dated has enjoyed both Animal Crossing and The Sims.

Honestly it just gave me a crippling addiction to Custom Content that is still on going to today. I think the community behind it revivals Doom or Morrowind. It is still active today. One website that is probably 20 years old now released an unofficial expansion pack with zombie survival gameplay just a year or so ago.
