hi /vr/

did you use a USB joystick to play games? Or you use and adaptor and a PS2 Xbox controller or something?

What kind or brand of PC joystick do you recommend? I use an Avatec. I let it fall on the floor like 6 times, it's almost broken, one of the dualshocks didn't work anymore, and it still have a very good timing. Also the vibration driver works very well even with the left one broken.

I found this to work amazingly well. Haven't found any issues nor delay. Doesn't have rumble but if I'm playing newer games I tend to use my 360 Controller. Since the D-pad sucks on the 360 it's awful for retro gaming but the Logitech controller have a nice D-pad.

I use a PS2+adapter.
No rumble support, but I don't really mind.

The only thing I dislike is the joystick at times. Works pretty well overall.

Logitech's Dual Actions are great, and they have far better build quality than their F series successors. Better shoulder buttons, better deadzones, and the sticks don't wear out as quickly.

As I said the D-Pad SUCKS. No one should ever use it other then playing newer games.
>>990693
Got it as a birthday gift 5 or 6 years ago. Never really was into emulation then since I felt the keyboard sucked for playing it. Then I started using it. Never looked back. Even after all those years of use it still works perfectly.

Haven't really used the stick much since I haven't really touched PSX/PS2 games until a year or so ago. But they seem to work great.

I have the RumblePad 2 version and it's pretty great.

The best 360 pad is the Hori Pad EX2 Turbo. It has an SNES-style d-pad and six face buttons, making it ideal for emulating both Nintendo and Sega consoles, or fighting games in general. That's not to mention that being a 360 controller it works perfectly with Xbox or modern PC games.

Probably not the most interesting answer, but I just use my PS3's Dualshock.
I can't bring myself to get another "jack of all trades" controller like those Logitech ones. I buy a lot of controllers, but I only get ones that bring something unique to the table.

I buy the actual controller and a usb adapter for the system I'm emulating.

As much as I dislike the normal 360 controller but I use this thing but the D-Pad is only kind of better.

If I could find one new I would get that I really want it.

been tempted to buy one if just for the d-pad but the glossy finish and octagonal analogs are silly. still, the white version frequently drops to $12 and you can still pick up a Mayflash adapter and be at the same cost as the shitty F310.

A bit expensive, but it was worth it for me (though I think I only paid $12 for it).

I have used the "dogbone" model with my Tatsunoko vs. Capcom stick and it actually causes a bluescreen whenever there's voltage spike (no idea why, but it is a fact that my computer would get BSoD every few hours when I had that thing connected and they stopped once I unplugged it).

I have also heard people complain about it in other threads about compability or something, so it would probably be best to use the latter one.

If that flattened adapter is a newer version of the same thing, then yeah it's probably better. I run Windows XP and have never had a problem with my controller-shaped one.

>> No.992987

My Dualshock 3 is good enough.

- Decent D-Pad
- Comfy analog sticks
- Don't have to buy a new controller
- Comfortable controller in general

I use this one and have no complaints.
If you need drivers for it they can be a bit tricky to find, but it seemed to work just fine on Win 7 x64 without them.
It supports 2 PS1/2 controllers and works great for emulators, pc games, xpadder, etc.
Rumble isn't supported, but that's not really necessary in my eyes.
The best part is the price

I used to have this. It was pretty terrible but it worked. Well, until it broke, obviously.
I had an old Sidewinder gamepad too.

Now I'm using my DS3. Perfect except for that awful chinese malware looking driver software.

>> No.993323

Is it okay to use a DS3 for emulation if you don't have a PS3? I mean, I'm concerned with whether or not charging the controller is an issue. I'd guess that as long as it's connected via USB it should work I'd like some confirmation.

>It was pretty terrible but it worked
How does that imply it was build quality?
Or am I supposed to assume it was poor build quality because it broke? Plenty of things break that are built just fine.

I've had mine for over 2 years and the only problem with it is frayed wires and I don't take especially good care of it. I toss it around a bit and I know it gets bent at odd angles.

This is just not true. Octagonal analogs feel sso much more precise when playing. It's why I consider the Gamecube Controller to be the best one.

The DS3 charges when you have it plugged into your computer
Also you need to download drivers for it to work, it won't work on it's own. A little more cumbersome than the 360 controller but it works great.

Awesome, I'll pick one up then. Thanks.

>Also you need to download drivers for it to work, it won't work on it's own. A little more cumbersome than the 360 controller but it works great.

Yeah, I know. I'd get a 360 controller if it didn't have that awful dpad.
