I swear there's a whole four sound effects they choose from.
Just kidding, I enjoyed some of their games.

I love Sunsoft but I would not consider them underrated. Pretty much everyone who is into older games knows about them. The guys who made Ranger X on the other hand need more love. They only made like one other game besides it but it was also really good and not well known.

Gremlins 2 on NES is fucking awesome. Tight gameplay, great graphics and atmosphere, FANTASTIC MUSICS with that Sunsoft bass sound you could also hear in Journey To Silius and Gimmick.

I'm a huge fan of Sunsoft's Journey To Silius. I have the autisms for this game. Pic related (top right : CIB famicom version; below: jap famicom bootleg; top left: a rare romhack which was only released cart only for about 15 copies, never released as rom)

Ultra Games wasnt followed too much.. Which sucks.. They should have lived on for a long time like Konami. They had some good titles.

>> No.989342

Hell yeah, Sunsoft.
Once they got out of their larval phase by releasing simple, demanding Famicom games like Ikki and started going international, holy shit.

Super Spy Hunter, Batman, Blaster Master, Gimmick, Gremlins 2, Journey to Silius.

God damn do I love Super Spy Hunter.

Oh come on. Sure kids nowadays hardly know Hudson but back then it was a huge powerhouse. It even competed in the hardware market, and was quite successfull at it in Japan

Maybe someone here knows.

While reading the credits of a game
I came across the nae "TNS" in place of the developer.
Is this an actual japanese developer or a term for something else?
Freelancers perhaps? I've never heard it before
and google isn't of much help either.

FROM Software until a couple years ago.

>>994228

YES. I wish they had been bigger. Most of their games were kind of rough (yet still charming), but I think that had more to do with budget constraints than lack of developer quality.
