Nah, I looked at the previous topsters thread ( >>9501317 ), and there wasn't that much of both games. As you can see, they're allowed in this thread, but so far you didn't see them except in >>9853853. Some even consider F-Zero a "tech demo", and many think SMK is just "outdated" (not my words, though I'm not a huge fan of either).
The goal was not to ban all good games from the list, the goal was to make the topsters more interesting and less repetitive.

I thought of another one; the Indiana Jones game for SNES is surprisingly good. Just look up the codes to skip the boulder level. It's an example of a artificial difficulty spike if I've ever seen one.

soulblader, the true sequel to actraiser, (the Master is present as a main NPC) a very "sad" zelda type with great zone variety and decent secrets, continues with illusion of gaia which is not quite as good

TMNT tournament fighters wasn't mentioned, its pure cheese just like GWED

tetris battle gaiden, tetris with a character select screen and 30ish castable spells based on resources accumulated, an incredibly cutthroat game but probably not amazing in single player

I have to second super aleste, space megaforce, its really well coded and is just fun for a long while

and final fantasy 5 nostalgia is still white hot, no game could possibly live up to that much hype, but its a good entry

just wanted to say that I'm surprised so far. pretty much every post is different. while there are more popular choices (Umihara Kawase, Contra III, Goemon games, Mega Mans, FFV, Lufia 2, DQs, Quintet trilogy, and a few others), you won't see those in every single post. the trouble - and the interest - here is distinguishing between nostalgia favorites and adult favorites. like i have three tiers of snes experience - 90s childhood mostly contemporary to releases, early 2000s teen when i started buying games for $3 and exploring stuff i’d missed, and 2015+ where i came back, replayed a bunch of stuff, and started playing japanese only releases that had gotten fan translations.
