He's playing on an emulator with a widescreen hack. You can see that the AI cars were always right behind him on the minimap. The widescreen hack fucks up car models when they're in areas that would be offscreen on a normal 4:3 image.

Also, the games in the Gran Turismo series do not have rubberbanding AI (the cars do not change their characteristics based on where the player is). Car AI doesn't make realtime decisions, each one just sticks to its preferred racing line. The only exception is if the player car or another AI car is directly in front of it, in which case it will deviate from its racing line in order to pass.

If an AI car is moved off of its preferred line (either by being hit by another car, or taking a turn too quickly and leaving the track) an AI car will attempt to return to it, but sometimes cannot do so without getting stuck (usually if it ends up directly facing a wall).

GT3 made changes to the car AI to give it different behaviors based on what happens during a race (advertised as drivers reacting if you cut them off or crowded them in a turn), but in reality the changes are minor.

I don't believe you. I remember that one time I did a race which was an endurance race that lasted for hours. I was in first position the entire time, I even had laps over many other cars, then I got taken over on the last turn of the last lap only 200 meters from the finish.

If the cars are close enough to be overtaking you in the last turn in an endurance race than that is a skill issue.

If the AI had rubberbanding than you wouldn't be lapping some cars and not others, the pack would be on your ass for the entirety of the race.

>If the AI had rubberbanding than you wouldn't be lapping some cars and not others, the pack would be on your ass for the entirety of the race.

That doesn't mean anything. It could very well be programmed so that just the 2nd car gets better on the last laps if you're in first position, which is still rubberbainding. It's not like there is only way one to do it.

>> No.9828862

It would show up on on more than just one car in more than one race. GT2 doesn't have rubberbanding, anyone who thinks it does either never played the game, or doesn't actually know what rubberbanding AI is.

It's a skill issue, which is pretty sad considering how easy the endurance races are in GT2. The hardest part about them is just driving the same circuit for an hour or more at a time, especially if you forget to turn the music volume down to 0 first.

>when i recorded this webm i just used the resolution options in the emulator. i didnt use a patch or anything

Yes you did. You may have applied it without knowing or remembering, or it may have been automatically applied, but it was applied.

Gran Turismo 2 runs at 320x240 natively, which is a 4:3 aspect ratio. Your webm is recorded at 700x400, which is a 1.75:1 aspect ratio. This is almost identical to 1.78:1, which is a 16:9 ratio. It's close enough that I am going to assume the game has a very slight horizontal matting effect that the emulator automatically trimmed out of the webm while recording it.

Whether you intentionally applied it or your emulator did it automatically, you played the game with a widescreen hack. Because of this, the game culled any models that would otherwise be outside of the 4:3 frame (as in, any cars you couldn't see if you were playing at 4:3 would be invisible, this game and many others do this to increase performance).

The car does not teleport, and it is not rubberbanding AI. The car was always there, but because it was outside of the frame that the game is programmed to display it was invisible until it moved back into frame (it did so because you took the final turn poorly and lost a significant amount of speed, allowing the other cars to close your lead). This guy >>9829213 is still a fullblown, 100% for reals mentally retarded person.

The guns in VC don't have any right feeling as good as they do, especially that M4. One of my favourite video game guns ever.

Wow that's so creative. The people behind Tomba really knew how to sell the PSX imo. I really never had any clue who made them.

It is almost depressing just how much better the PS1 is than it's competition.

How so? The background events are 'scripted' but you don't interact with them at all. The racing is completely up to the player. The drifting is super exaggerated because it's fun.

It's more arcadey. You can transition seamlessly between planet surface and space, go into tunnels inside the planet to trade for items (weapons or main quest scavenger hunt) and do quick star drives between planets. The goal is to assemble the parts of a superweapon to take out a space station that is being built. The different planets have different palettes and entities, with some weird 3d critters on some of them.

Have this on pc and it won't save ranking times on the leader boards. Totally ruins the game, literally no point in playing.
