What are the most expensive games that you own? These are mine. The most I have ever paid for a game was $480 for Pulseman.

>Drop another couple hundred on a game with a million copies
Pulseman didn't sell millions of copies, retard. It was released on an obscure console near the end of the systems life, and only in a single territory. It's sales numbers are only in the thousands. Naturally it's going to cost more than something like Sonic, but I could afford to buy it so who cares? The only game in that image which has sold millions of copies is Pokemon, and I bought that for $35 on launch day.
Seethe about finances somewhere else please.

Just because a game is mediocre doesn't mean people can't enjoy it. Dino City on SNES is pretty mediocre and it's one of my favorite games. In the case of Pulseman, I like Game Freak's older games and I have a few in my collection and really like them. Quinty is the best though.

Most of my games are worthless. I got all of these a long time ago but they are way overpriced nowadays.

The valuation of Lucifer Ring is hilarious. I bought it for $20 a year ago because it looked interesting, then some scammer wash traded it to himself for $300 and that became the new aggregated valuation. Yet another example of how easy it is to fleece coomlectors.

Probably a combination of covid and nostalgia, people bored during covid wanting to relive their past since they have alot of free time, and are willing to spend the money on their old favorites. Could just be bullshit, I don't fully understand it. Ended up selling my loose Emerald and Diamond (cib) for $400 and got Fire Emblem Path of Radiance for basically free at my local game shop.

In addition to what others have said, unlike pretty much every other major Nintendo franchise the Pokemon games are rarely rereleased even in digital form.
For example Crystal has been sold twice, once physically in 2000 and then digitally in 2018. So there is an entire generation of Pokemon fans who grew up not being able to buy a copy.
Emerald and Platinum have still both never been rereleased in any format, even digital.
For being such massive titles in such high demand and with so many fans with more money than sense it's absurd for them to not have been rereleased. Yet, they haven't. The games were printed to fuck and back but demand is legitimately starting to catch up with supply.
Obviously you can emulate any of them very easily, but clearly that doesn't stop people.

I understand the availability aspect, it's the reasoning behind spending over $100 to play these games I don't get. Most of these games, if I'm not mistaken, were going for less than $50 just a few years ago, and I wouldn't be surprised if they drop down to that again in the next 5 or so years, especially with how many copies there are out there.
I get normies wanting to pay that money, especially if they don't spend and buy games regularly. Any collectors buying these up now are just retarded imo

You know OP some of us have been around awhile. I have thousands of retro games CIB, most bought in the last 4 decades for nearly every console. When I die, each of my 4 adult children will be able to buy a modest house, if they so choose to sell the collection. I don't mean to brag, I'm just pointing out that you're a dick.

Peak 2D gaming will always be relevant. It's been 20+ years since SNES went away and prices have never been higher. Face it, this was the golden age of 2D gaming and will always be sought after by collectors because there will always be 2D gaming.

I confess, I like collecting expensive retro games in really mint condition and, while I do play them pretty often, half of the fun of it for me is being really careful with them, wiping the cases/discs off with soft cloths, reading the manuals etc. and most of all displaying them and taking nicely framed artsy pictures of them. It's autistic but gives my brain dopamine for some reason, idk.

Yeah, I don't know why its valued THAT HIGH. I wasn't really interested in the game until last year. The game is fine but only has FIVE LEVELS and not much gameplay beyond that. I'm having a feeling its because of that peter dorr guy shilling a bunch of Japanese games on YT.

Metal Warriors on the SNES probably. Picked it up for about $10 bucks as a kid when a video game rental store was cleaning out it's SNES inventory after the N64/PS1 came out. Manual still has stickers from the video store I bought it from.

Auspal XD Gale Of Darkness currently sells for around $450 AUD, which is $300 USD converted at current rates, while in the US it looks like it currently sells for $200-$220 USD.
This is all on eBay sold listings but if you check price charting you'll see a price discrepancy between the PAL and NTSC-U releases.
In general there are a few CIB Auspal Pokemon games that will usually go for around the same price as a CIB NTSC-U release. Emerald, Stadium 2, Red and Blue are the only ones i can think of that usually sell higher in an NTSC-U format.
UK-Pal though is almost always cheaper than both Auspal and NTSC-U for most games.
