Just when you thought a gunblade was the dumbest idea, square thought of the key-blade

A weapon so stupid because blade part is not sharp
And the key part doesn't actually turn locks since you fire lasers into keyholes anyway

GOD DAMN JAPANESE

a heartless is the shadowy monster made out a person's soul when they are either really evil when they die or are killed through evil means

a nobody is the waste byproduct of making a heartless. they can't control their memories and cannot control their feelings and emotions because they don't have hearts to make sense of them, either making them sociopaths or turning them into angry rage tards like roxas and marluxia. if a nobody feels enough things and has enough life experiences to give them a distinct identity from their original self, they will grow something like a heart and become a fully realized person.

it acts and gets treated as a sword in the games though. It just LOOKS like a mace, but you use it to slice (ie. the Hydra). Also, a lot of keyblades are sharp, like the oathkeeper

The keyblade is your heart manifesting as power to defeat the shadows and dark aspects of you and all of humanity's psyche so our subconscious feels cathartic release while playing the games. Literally a key to the heart.

But also its a big ass metal pipe with good hit sounds and shoots fireballs and shit. I'm actually a chuuni but even chuuni shit has psychology to it.

Also it felt good to earn it through a test or character in that my friends are my power moment.

>> No.9816597

How is it that I can tolerate stuff like Keyblades and characters talking without irony about "Hearts" and "Light" and "Darkness" in the games, but when normalfags say stuff like "The keyblade is literally a key to the heart beating back all the psychic darkness" I fucking die from cringing?

Anon all the darkness and light stuff are very basic ideas from Carl Jung. The main Heartless are literally called Shadows. Roxas talks about Sora being his other.

And did you really not understand Kairi being in Sora's heart was a literal metaphor for friends being in yoir heart? Or the game with a gigantic heart on the cover with keys that free people's hearts isn't a literally metaphor of keys to your heart? Your cringing is just your brain trying to make you not feel stupid.

Somehow I doubt Squaresoft had their copy of the Red Book out while they were making KH. I can only speculate, but KH seems more like it’s inspired by freemasonic philosophy and imagery than psychology.
And frankly I think that’s where the line between cool and cringe lies.
No matter what your opinion of Freemasonry, I consistently see classic games tend to have devs who seem involved with the fraternity.
It’s always faggots like you trying to understand and talk about this stuff “bro it’s just like I read in Carl Jung” “muh hero’s journey” but come across like you have no idea what you’re talking about that make me cringe.
You couldn’t sit down and write a story like Kingdom Hearts to save your life: you can only contextualize it and try to understand it through these lenses like psychology that probably have basically nothing to do with what actually inspired the story.

>> No.9816676

>>9816648
Yeah that's part of it too. Riku's arc is similar to Cecil in FF4 too. I'm not trying to say it's deep, it's just really well done symbolism. In the beginning when Sora dreams inside his heart he floats underwater. Which is the Jungian representation of the unconsciousness. And we see Sora's shadow being cast and turned into a Heartless. The stained glass is a mandala. More Jung shit.

The ending was all about if people are good or not which was weirdly psychological.

The Keyblade of light and darkness in 1 are probably also based on the Keys to the Kingdom of heaven. Religious stuff is in KH because NES FF (Holy magic) coming from JRPGs coming from medieval fantasy. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keys_of_Heaven
