AND I haven't even posted the RPGs!

These are some of my favorites. Don't play any of the fan translations of Sweet Home, I've heard they're so bad that they make it impossible to finish without a guide.

I should have bought this in 2007 because now it's $150 for a loose cart. At least Cosmic Epsilon is still cheap, I got a copy recently.

If you like weird Famicom shit I recommend checking out Chrontendo.

I would recommend the Samurai Pizza Cats game. It's a short and easy, but very fun licensed mascot action game.

I definitely need to play Sweet Home someday. What's wrong with the fan translations? How do they make the game harder? Did they just screw up the translations really badly?

>> No.9803572

>>9802426
>Did they just screw up the translations really badly?
Yes. To beat the game you have to read some records when you find paintings, and because those aren't translated correctly it's impossible to find where you're supposed to go.
At least, so I've heard. I played the game in Japanese and haven't personally tried the translations. I guess the only complaint I'm justified to give is that they made the title screen ugly.

Saiyūki World is pretty much the nes version of Wonder Boy in monster land but with different characters. Having beaten it on the sms I was able to get upto the ice castle without much trouble at all since many coins and things are in the same place. It actually does a couple of things better than the sms but other areas are worse.

I think also mappy was not released outside japan, pretty decent early 80s fun for 15 mins.

I guess nes having a large number of pallets to choose from allow such smooth animation

Monster Party only came out on the NES. The mysterious unreleased Japanese version was a cornerstone of old game prototype fetishization on the 2000s internet, along with Bio Force Ape, in part due to the mysterious nature of protos as well as the meme-able nature of the US retail Monster Party. A prototype cartridge of it was found and dumped in the mid-2010s and people stopped giving a shit about it.

It's funny how big of a fucking deal BFA and JP MP were on the internet 20 years ago, but once they were dumped people seem to have forgotten about them. A newly discovered build of BFA was posted online a couple years back to practically zero fanfare.

Does anyone know if the first two Megami Tensei games are any good? I'd like to give them a try since they were the beginning of a big franchise.

If we're going to include games that technically did come out on NES but only in 1-3 European countries, then F-1 Sensation by Konami and Over-Horizon are really good. Apparently they only came out in Germany.

Europe isn't real and their games didn't run at full speed. It's fair game.
