>no modern source port for this game
>only option is DOSbox

How hard is it to make a source port for a classic game like this that can run it as modern resolutions with modern features, ala Eduke? I know how for loops and if statements work lol.

There was a port released like few months ago dude

Let's be honest: The current culture here would still shit on OP, even if they asked nicely.

The result would still be the same.

You are cringe. I am based.
Your opinion is wrong and stupid. My opinion is correct and informed.

>How hard is it to make a source port
Extremely hard without the source code which was never released. I'm kind of surprised someone tried to remake the engine and made real progress on it.

Been playing the source port and it is damn good. Proto Shadows of the Empire than the actual rest of the series. While Empire has better graphics, I was amazed at the action in this game. I've mentioned it in the last thread about DF, but the fire fights feel intense and chaotic, pulling areas straight out of the trilogy blaster fights just re skinned was a nice nod too. Really recommend this source port a lot.

What this guy said. DF isn't as 3D as it wants to be (we'll get that in DF2:JK), but there is still a lot of maths that has to be worked out to get it to work. It's not like rewriting Space Invaders or Tempest.

OP deserves it regardless for not spending 10 seconds to search teh internetz before, or not posting on another thread instead of creating a new thread just to be spoonfed

Not op, but I disagree. Over the years, I've been able to pick up all kinds of great information on how to play older games on modern systems right here on /vr/. This includes things that I wouldn't have really found elsewhere on the internet, for example, the 4chan Dos Pack. Others include things like EDuke32, Metroid Planets, Daggerfall Unity, N Blood, Quakespasm, Quake 2 Yagami, The Ur Quan Masters, and any one of the dozen of tools for Doom, like zDoom, Odamex, Zandronum, or Zdaemon....all of which I first discovered right here on /vr/

So yeah, maybe it is a little cringe for someone to ask for a source on something that would take a mild effort to Google, but Google will only find what you tell it to. A forum that loves the games will tell you precisely what you need, as well as where to find it, and what resources you may need.

Well said. If people didn't ask silly questions this place would have no use at all. If we're not learning anything new then it's all just a bunch of silly pictures innit.

Help is appreciated obviously and information is given too but being a nuisance hoping to annoy people into giving you information is another thing and frowned upon on any board.

OP should be man enough to post his elation that there's a fantastic new source port for the game and he's excited to find this out.

Instead he was probably so embarrassed he closed the thread in shame
