In fact it's worse than the standard Genesis controller, even though it has more buttons.

Even for fighting games, you're better off using a saturn controller. I'm not a fg person myself, but I am a huge Touhou nut, and the saturn controller is always my go to.

Pic is the SLS USB Saturn Controller, which is almost identical to the original controller aside from it's functionality on modern PCs. I DO NOT recommend the retrobit controller, the d-pad and buttons on those feel super cheap.
