Donkey Kong '94 is literally the only game I know of, because it released alongside it. But I would assume any GameBoy game that released after 1994 that worked on both the GameBoy and GameBoy Color could utilize it.

Pokemon Red, Green, Blue, and Yellow will add a frame, but that's about it.

Space Invaders, brah

>> No.9774653

I think centipede millipede uses it
and wario blast
metroid II looks okay with it but it doesn't have any special features

Best is by far two Game and Watch games.
After that Donkey Kong 94, Space Invaders and Donkey Kong LAnd series.
DK94 was the main SGB title.
Space Invaders has another SNES game inside, but GB mode also has different coloring modes. People generally ignore GB mode's coloring which is one of the best SGB colorings.
Donkey Kong Land games are unplayable on original Game Boy because graphics are too detailed for a GB game. However, as someone that normally doesn't like coloring rom hacks, I'd recommend coloring rom hack above anything else for them.
That's pretty much it.

While it's nice to see your pokemons colored, Pokemon RGBY looks much better on monochrome. You can always look colored sprites online.

I loved using SGB for playing games on a CRT TV in the past, but given how good DMG filters have become there is hardly any reason to use SGB nowadays.

The port of Contra3/Probotector used per tile palettes for more varied color and included some SNES sound effects here and there.

I loves coloring Links Awakening in nice summer colors. Like blue for the water, yellow for the meadows and other colors I cant even remember lol

Imo, its the Takara fighting games. Added sound effects and 2 player support.

ALL OF THEM

Wario Blast can run four fucking players on the multitap.

Links Awakening borders VERY comfy

Pokemon TCG having borders with your medals/badges was a nice touch.

I thought there'd be more hacks targeting this. I've only seen one.
GBC is obviously more popular and widely available, but is it also easier to work with?

This game was literally made by Shigeru Miyamoto and is one of the best examples of super game boy utilization.

imagine being such a chad and having a SGB and a bomberman multitap

SGB works best on static images. Game Boy Gallery, Game & Watch Gallery and Space invaders has the best usages because of that. Other than that they simply change entire palette. I've heard some areas are better colored than GBC version but even then it would be a single area. There is improved SNES sound as well, but how many would be interested in that? There is multiplayer I guess, maybe hacking game boy link would be better for that?
There are areas better colored with single palette color but you can just use different shaders for that. SGB colorings generally change palette too many times for the sake of it to show that they are using the hardware.
>>9776425
Yeah it's one the best usages of SGB.

Mixed feelings about Beatmania GB. The colorization is poor compared to GBC but it has very nice borders.
Kinda par for the course with GBC-era games on SGB.

>> No.9776790

Do people actually enjoy borders? They don't fit in with the GB games at all.

>> No.9776893

seeing your GB pocket pokemon red up on a fat CRT was amazing and if you don’t think that was the tightest shit get out of my face

Was and now is different anon. There wasn't any color GB games back then as well. Not to mention SGB was the best way to play GB games on TV/Monitor for the longest time before handheld LCD shaders.
