I remember reading a preview of THPS4, and they
remarked that neverspft were signed up to make a Tony Hawks game
every year for the next five years.

I couldn't imagine how they could improve on 3 ever. But it seemed crazy thinking about the future of the series.

4 wasn't out yet. It was like speculating on how Halo 2 and 3 would be.

Then this shit came out and well... that was it. Forever.

Never better.

PS1 version looks very ugly though. I hated how it looks as a kid and I loved PS1 aesthetics. It's the only PS1 game where I prefer the DC port.

I think THUG2 is the best, but I can see how the Jackass stuff would be a turn off for some. It had the most refined gameplay imo. Plus I liked how lively it was. All the NPC’s and character interactions made it less lonely. I can understand people disliking the idea of getting off the skateboard, running and your combo still counting. It is a cheap way to extend it. Plus all the flips, it got really unrealistic. It was already unrealistic, but it really pushed the envelope and made 2 seem like a sim. Truthfully, I think 1 to THUG2 is one of the most fun and impressive runs a series has ever had. You can make an argument for any of those being the best. It kept building and improving and eventually went to shit with AW, but that’s just what Activision does.
