it's a mediocre continuum-like

I prefer superior hyuckformers like banjo kazooie to yahoohoppers like mario, thank you very much.

>> No.9771812

Are 3D platformers even made anymore? This is a big fish in a very small pond.

Banjo had charm. Mario 64 was an easy going game though

so much this. you get all these bright fun playground like levels. then all of a sudden you get to the basement and you're in actually fucking hell.

Neither it, nor anything else on that God-forsaken pile of Nintendo garbage console, are even contenders.

>> No.9773059

Mario 64 is one of those games where the more I play it, the more I like.
I honestly didn't even like it that much at the time. Rare's 3D platformers completely stole my attention during that gen, but Mario 64's high skill ceiling means the more you put in, the more you get out of it, and you don't get that so much in Banjo.

With that camera? No thanks

The camera is wholly adequate. Complaining about it is so 2017.

I actually prefer the later levels, Idk I find the first 4 levels all pretty mediocre.

because they're more challenging? the level design really isn't much better is it?

>> No.9773842

>>9773067
In certain levels it was a bit annoying but I'f that's what puts you off playing it then you should git gud

>> No.9773929

I really like the chubby-cheek Mario design, makes him feel like a classic cartoon character.

Vexx is probably one of my favorite platformers.

>>9771760
it's incredibly soulful
feels like a bunch of dudes just spent some time coding the gamplay and building playgrounds then wrangled it into some sort of game
and it works
it can't be replicated because now everything is touched by a chain of "professionals" who saw off every edge

>> No.9775893

>>9771760
If you repeat something enough times, people will start to believe it.

>> No.9775902

Not as many as there used to be, but there's a few indie and middle market titles on PC. A Hat in Time is a pretty decent Banjo-Kazooie clone, it's better than Yooka-Laylee, though granted that's not saying much.
