It's a simple game but good, it's no secret they lifted the mask from Jason but Jason stole his first look from The Town that Dreaded Sundown and the Splatterhouse mask became it's own thing with the sequel with a more Skull like design.

I wish there were a Splatterhouse movie. It would follow the progression and setting of the game fairly closely, only Rick wouldn't get the mask until the final act, so most of the movie would be him trying to contend with the monsters as a normal human. Maybe mutated Jennifer is what ultimately kills Rick, which leads to the mask affixing itself to him.
