No they are all imaginary people. He just has schizophrenia and the events of Earthbound all happen in his head. Pokey is his one true friend who tries to get him to seek help til Ness kills him. He'll flee and hop on the opiate train to numb the pain but it will never be enough til one day he overdoses and dies.

He’d probably have an existential crisis at a fairly young age due to nothing in his life being able to match his childhood adventures. This is likely to lead to some type of drug abuse, or just escapism in general.

That’s the outcome I would expect unless he manages to figure out how to make use of the skills he developed with his friends in a meaningful way.

2nd best could be number 1 but choose to be a team player. Very forgivable.

Yes. Not Poo as much because he is quiet and prefers his friends to do most of the thinking/talking for him

Happy and proud and still very quiet and will tell his adventure defeating giygas to people who care to listen. Paranoid for the next threat and relives his past with a cold pint of beer as the chief of police.

He will go to the "cafe" (bar in Japan) and remember moonside and get drunk and changes his yes and no and drunk dial everyone. The will discover weed from apple kid and quit drinking and become an inventor working with Dr. Andonuts doing lines with Jeff and his boyfriend.
Ness will be so high and think "hey player! Are you still there? They should make a movie about me one day". In the distance you can hear ness ness ness ness ness ness because giygas and ness has and will always be one. Fin?

It's such a youtube lore theorist level low hanging fruit but Ness's determination is definitely the inspiration for The Batter and other "subversive" stone cold RPG protagonists
Come to think of it he was already pretty subversive for the time because unlike other protags who have nothing to lose, Onett doesn't get blown up in the first 5 minutes of the game so Ness is giving up everything to go on his quest

To be fair to him before he knows about Giygas it's entirely in self defense, the enemies just sprint up to you and start attacking you. If your neighbor's rotweiler attacked you IRL you'd have much better odds punching it in the snout than trying to run away.
