third strike's roster was awful. most of the new characters were pretty gay and matoko plays like ass. if I wanted to juggle fags I'd just use training mode v-isms for years on end.

1. Aside from Remi, Necro, Twelve that are abomination that shouldn't have existed the roster wasn't awful. But i do agree aside Ryu/Ken/Chun & Akuma, at leasts guys like Guile, Blanka & Dhalsim should've just returned instead of those corny copycats

It's so hard to find simple approaches like that in fighting games, retro or not. I'm a *casual* fan of fighting games, but my kind seems hated by most devs. I like any game in which I don't have to put a insane amount of hours just to get some basic fun out of it. The old Street Fighter II is way better in that regard, but more because of limitations than by design.

Back when SFII was released, the martial artists tropes were rich and diversified, there was a kind of magic about them. Enter MMA and everyone is now a shaved dude wearing speedos. Abel is very realistic, Street Fighter was/is trying to go for a believable look, but I don't think it works in the game favor. From the moment your main character throws hadoukens, you can feel safe to forgo realism and pursue cooler designs.
