Anyone else excited that the turbo everdrive pro got release? I didn't get it yet, but it's awesome how the tiny hucard can play CD games. Plus I find it hilarious how you can't use this to play CD games on the Duo or Analogue Duo due to the way they function. The Duo, while cool, is officially a piece of trash with it's fish smelly capacitors and weak laser. The Analogue Duo issue is hilarious as a cherry on top.

>OP so retarded xhe forgets the Analogue will just boot roms anyway
You retard.

No I didn't.

If I didn’t already own a Turbo EverDrive and a Super CD-ROM2 I would definitely buy this. I’m glad it exists all the same, and it sure looks nice. How much is this one gonna cost?

>> No.9743031

>>9743007
It's $220 US DOLLARS! Honestly it seems like a fair price when the CD Unit itself in broken condition goes for $70. Plus having to repair it and source a new laser AND give the CD playing it's own power supply. The other plus is that the PC Engine actually has more than two good CD game to play, unlike the Sega CD which only has Shining Force 3 and Lunar.

>>9743031
Haha, that sucks so much ass, but that’s to be expected. I was really hoping he’d sell it for less than that, but you’re unfortunately correct that buying a real CD unit, any system cards you might need, some games and then either recapping it yourself or paying someone else to do it definitely comes to more than $200. Even if you just burn CDs you’d likely spend more than $200.
>The other plus is that the PC Engine actually has more than two good CD game to play, unlike the Sega CD which only has Shining Force 3 and Lunar.
Hey now! Snatcher and Final Fight CD are also pretty great. That’s four whole games and a bitching visualizer for your CDs. And two AC adapters.

>>9743040
I forget about Final Fight CD, but Snatcher is also on the PC Engine (granted it's jp only). The $200+ for the Mega Everdrive Pro also makes sense for the same reasons, but I got the x5(?) mega everdrive since I don't care for many of the CD games.

>>9742979
Yea, this has too many limitations for me. It's a pass for me. Maybe if they can fix the stereo sound and being able to use it on consoles that either have a CD-Rom unit plugged in or one of the Duo's.
Until then I'll stick to CD-R's and my MiSTer.

We'll have to wait to him to make one that connects to the expansion port.

But can't you use one like I posted here >>9743123? I believe when someone asked him months ago he said he just used an AV expansion item from Ebay like that one. Unless it only does stereo with mono on each side.

Yes. I ordered on the day Krikzz tweeted it was available and he just shipped it today, so I'm hoping it will arrive before summer but I somehow doubt it. When I ordered a GBA Everdrive a while back it took forever to get here.
>I find it hilarious how you can't use this to play CD games on the Duo
It can if you disable the CD drive.
>Analogue
Who cares?

What I find funny is that this is literally just the Mega Everdrive Pro in a different form factor. If you already own that then you basically just bought it twice (like me)

I'm in the USA, but when I ordered the GBA Everdrive a few months back it arrived in like a week. I dug into it and found that he sends some shipments to America ahead of time before the sales start so they can be shipped faster.

That's nice, I ordered mine a couple of weeks ago too and got the shipping notification. I think he's based in Spain now or something after the invasion started. Looking forward to it, but first I need a solution like this: >>9743123
even if it's mono. I really just want to play some Turbo/PCE.

I'm in Japan and I'm pretty sure he doesn't do that for here. When I ordered my GBA Everdrive last year it took like a month to be delivered and there were very few shipping updates until it reached Japan.

Krikzz is in Spain but his factory in Ukraine is still operating and they're still shipping packages from Ukraine.

He posted an image like that on Twitter a while ago. He got a random device like that on Amazon and added two capacitors to the back side and said it made it output stereo.

autistic question:
I decided not to upgrade to the Mega Everdrive pro because I know for a fact that the Sega CD has processing capabilities that the base Genesis doesn't. I already had the former best Mega Everdrive and a working Sega CD, and I didn't go to all that trouble just to emulate a more advanced piece of hardware than the one I was playing on.
Maybe I'm wrong about something there, but I don't think so, and people who are buttmad about my views on the matter need not reply.
My question is whether the TG16/PC Engine CD attachment(s) are just glorified CD players with built in card roms, or if they handle serious parts of the processing like the Sega CD.
http://www.archaicpixels.com/Super_CD%C2%B7ROM%C2%B2
This page makes it seem like it pretty much just has the hardware to play CDs plus some built in card data, and the console still does does the real work, but I'm not sure. I don't really know how the newTurbo ED Pro works either to be honest, but it sure would be nice for the ol autism if it was just behaving like a fancy disc player replacement and not a total MiSTer CPU replacement abomination (sorry MiSTer frens it's not my thing)
Despite the SSDS3 being out a while, I haven't seen much discussion about this yet. I do know that thing emulates the Super Grafx components, and that's the sort of feature I'm not interested in using as you might guess.

>> No.9743941

>>9743932
turbo/pce used additional cards like the arcade card and super system card to expand functionality. The CD stuff is basically just a drive that deals with data the same way hu cards do.

>> No.9744335

>>9743941
Ok thanks, seems to check out, so I'll go with that unless I hear otherwise before the restock.

>> No.9744343

>>9743932
other than more RAM, it didn't expand the system's capabilities

CD-Rom games are no different really than hucards. its the Super CD and Arcade card games where the RAM really makes a difference

For those buying a generic AV booster, here is how Krikzz modded it to output stereo from Turbo Everdrive Pro
https://twitter.com/krikzz/status/1602725593413550083
Basically he use a pin that won't be used to output right audio
