You can patch the European ROM to run at 60hz, which has lightgun support.
Use PAL4U and the P4U patcher: https://consolecopyworld.com/psx/psx_utils_pn_cnv.shtml
>1. Open the image file of a game (ISO, BIN) with PAL4U2000. Make sure to select "PAL->NTSC".
>2. Click on "Find SEQs". This will generate a patch for the game (a P4U file).
>3. Open P4UPATCH. Click on "Choose P4U file" and select the file you've just created. Click on "Choose BIN/EXE" and select the game image you want patched.
