What are the best third party retro consoles? Especially (but not exclusively) for SNES games? Are any of these things even worth it or are they all just glorified raspberry pi's running RetroArch or some shit?

A homebrewed Wii with component cables, a classic controller, and a CRT.

Steam deck. Consolize it with a $15 adapter and controller of your choice.

Depending what you wanna play, I'd prioritize getting a MiSTer FPGA over these commercial emulators. Otherwise, anything else like a Steam Deck is a better investment if all you care about is emulation.

Give the Super NT a try for SNES games. With a jailbreak, it could play more than just SNES as well.

Does that Retro thing actually work? I heard GBC was impossible on FXPak cause of bandwidth on the cartridge slot or something

Also for clarity, Super NT jailbreak only plays SNES games still

This except get a SCART cable. There are practically no CRTs with component (might have a chance if you're in Daily Mass Shootings Land) vs 90% of CRT TVs having multi SCART

The Capcom Power Fighter Stick works alright. The stick does feel modern with its clicky cardinal directions but the buttons are a bit scratchy instead of smooth. It works for both the SNES and original Famicom with the bundled cables. The FXpak Pro allows for MSU-1 games in addition to SuperFX games too, but I lack the funds to afford one so I only got to play around with a Chinese knockoff SD2SNES which does not handle MSU-1 games at the correct balance levels. I only have a few GBC games, and I only had a Gamecube to play them which was well after their time.

You are right. I did not edit my prior post and the meaning was distorted to something completely wrong. I meant it could play some ROMhacks that has translations or quality of life improvements.
