The artstyle and effects are awesome, absolute best on the engine until Ion Fury. The level design is good, although there are a few levels with overly confusing puzzles/mandatory secrets (which Duke also had). The gameplay takes some time to get used to. In comparison, Duke is pretty much a Doom clone, everything functions simply and how you would expect. In SW, the pace is a lot faster and the explosives are your workhorse rather than bullet weapons. The thing to keep in mind is that the radius of the grenades is HUGE, so you need to be careful to avoid hurting yourself. But once you get into it, the combat can be really frenetic and fun. I find it actually somewhat similar to Blood's combat because of the way you need to jump and move around so much to avoid damage.

Duke is 1 just because I've played it more since it's on consoles
Blood is 2 but it was a much more memorable game since it felt very unique to me at the time. Too bad it never got a port.
Shadow warrior is 3 since when it came out I was just getting burnt out on the genre and PC gaming wasn't as fun for me then either.

I'm amazed no games other than Blood made crouching a combat tool other than sometimes a slight accuracy boost. It's one of the, if not the most tactical single player FPSes and it does it without tedious "realism". Cover can be important but it's not a "cover shooter", spraying and controlled bursts both have their benefits for crowd control and confirming kills, et cetera
