What, you think this is bad? Those layouts look like you could easily remember them without even drawing a map yourself.

Probably Wizardry 4, it doesn't cut you even a modicum of slack, if you didn't master the previous entries first, you don't stand a goddamn chance.

PSO may as well be an entirely different franchises; there's nothing major that carries over from the original series.

Ther first PS mazes are pretty nice: they're at most 16x16 with walls taking a cell and traps aren't frequent or that annoying.
There's only a single trap location you need to remember as you need to disarm it to continue.

>>9724035
Keep in mind that the dungeons are in first person and grid-based, that you can only see turns when you're right next to them, and that all the walls look the same. You also get random encounters every 3-4 steps which can make you forget about stuff. Of course, no in-game map like there would be in Zelda.
It's not that bad overall, but harder than what the map makes it look like.

This ain't really that bad.
Hell, picrel ain't that bad either, it's the first dungeon of the game.

I honestly love the expansive ones in SJR, but I also love to suffer.

Infini Palace was insane in KMT. I gave up on not using a map after a while even though I didn't use a map for most of the game.

the worst is yet to come for me, anyways, I suffered through PSI and beat it, with fastfowarding, it reminded me a lot of dragon quest, I'm going to burn through PSII now.

Automap got me through most of the game, but near the end the confusing layout of the middle floors along with the trap floors started getting to me.

Not hard per se but King's Field 3 corridor of death is pure bullshit: the very first hallway has spikes in the walls so you will die like 10 times just trying to navigate that hallway and enemies can cast darkness so you won't be able to see shit. The only thing that has enough worth to spend more time that you need to in that dungeon is the royal key. Also, in that same dungeon there is a chair near the exit and i don't know if it's supposed to mean anything or what.

Phantasy Star 1 is easy enough you can beat it without drawing a map, so yeah. It just happens to be babby's first blobber without automap.

speaking of Infini, Infinity in Breath of Fire 2 is pretty rude in a couple different ways, like undoing your shaman fusions halfway and forcing you to leave and walk all the way back down to get them back

I'm not sure I'd say they're that hard, but some of the dungeons in Shin Megami Tensei: If... are pretty infamous. There's the World of Sloth that requires you to run around in circles for something like eight in-game moon cycles to progress, which thankfully you can do with encounters turned off, but I imagine a lot of people had trouble even realising that's what you were supposed to do.

If I remember right, the World of Envy also pulled this devious little trick where it had a floor you couldn't pull up the full map for, because your COMP was disabled, and on that floor there were two separate areas that looked completely identical and were connected by teleporters. You would walk in a room, see the teleportation effect, then walk out and be like "What? I'm in the same place." You had to realise that the teleporter had actually led you to a duplicate of the previous area, but with teleporters that led to different destinations, and then you would have to teleport back and forth between them while keeping track of which visually identical area you were in, without the aid of a full map.

At least that's how I remember it, looking at this map I found it might've actually been more than two areas.
