So, /vr/, what did you think of the Metroid Prime Remaster? I prefer the original aesthetics. Comparison webm for your pleasure featuring the icebeam.

Surprisingly good. Probably in the top 5 best/most faithful remasters

Of course you can't expect 100% autistic loyalty because at the end of the day it's a remaster/remake which by design are cash grabs

How can anyone tolerate the constant yellow pulsing on Samus's cannon? Remakes are all bad.

Overall upgrade with some minor issues that will never please autists who hate all remakes/remaster on principle (aka most of this board) even if they are a 100% upgrade.

I can't stand the way the map is partially obscured around the corner, it's fucking annoying and unnecessary, actually reduces the visibility of the map.

>> No.9703105

the combination of both right stick camera control and gyro aim is interesting, feels like it solves the issues all those pointer based fps games on wii had.

I want to know why they moved the visors around.

What the fuck. They polished the environments but ruined the subtle touches of the weapons.

They clearly lacked a quality control. What a shame.

Best remaster of all time for the best game of all time, should be a model example of how release a remaster and it makes me extremely happy its selling so well and will secure a future for the Metroid series. Anyone who dislikes it as a remaster is either nitpicking minor shit or being intentionally contrarian.

I think the game looks great. I'm just annoyed about how charge shots are handled now.

fucking ruined, not giving them a dime until they patch this shit. Fucking idiots.

Metroid Prime Trilogy for Wii is already perfect. This remaster holds no value for me.

>> No.9704519

Generally a good remaster besides the fucked up door and beam lighting effects.

Should I play this version or the Wii version (on Dolphin)?

My only gripe with the remaster as well.

Everything else is small peanuts. I'm enjoying the hell out of the remaster.

>> No.9705005

I pirated this and noticed pressing the shot button once would fire a burst of 3 shots instead of 1, making it impossible to do a charge shot without firing those 3 regular shots first. I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere as a gameplay difference from the original. Is this some sort of piracy bug only?

>> No.9705026

probably wii version, it works surprisingly well with motion controls

>> No.9705104

No, this is the only actual gameplay-related change, and plenty of people have complained about it.

>> No.9705663

>>9703050
they should have emulated the old lighting of this, it's clearly less impressive looking even though i'm sure it's actually giving off a much weaker lighting instead of just not being lit. the end product just looks lamer

>> No.9705707

>>9702741
Like Shadow of the Colossus one but schizos won't shit on it because it's a Nintendo game and the "original" devs worked on it

>> No.9705750

>>9705707
Well there's also the fact that Metroid Prime is an actual game and not a movie.

>> No.9706708

The more I see the remaster the less I like it compared to the original. There is very little that I look at and think is a straight improvement beyond it being in a higher resolution.
I suppose I do like the look of Chozo Ruins, but Phendrana looks much worse to me like everything's got a green tint, where the original was icy blue.

I will fight over the idea that Nintendo only did this remaster to get all the new recruits at Retro to understand how to design a good Metroid Prime game due to how the development cycle for 4 has been a total clusterfuck.

>> No.9706836

Or simply to make zoomers familiar with the Metroid Prime franchise. Seeing the shit ton of Prime threads here since its release, they were succesful in doing so. Wouldn't be surprised if 2 and 3 will be announced at E3.

the lighting from shots being fucking destroyed pisses me off

still gonna play prime hack instead

If you watch Nerrel's video on the remaster he actually does a side-by-side that shows the charge shot isn't actually any slower. The power beam fires more shots with one button press but then the time to full charge is shortened to make up for that so that you don't hold the button any longer to get a full charge.

Would you believe I stumbled across that video a few hours after I made that post and saw the comparison? I was just too lazy to post that afterwards.
That's not so bad then. Best of both worlds, really.

Overall it looks nicer but my stupid brain always reminds me that the lighting and reflections aren't as dynamic. Dualstick + gyro is neat.
