What can I say… bad for you? When I first played SM64, I was mindblown. The amount of stuff that you can do in that game and the degree of control you have is amazing. The levels on the first floor of the castle have GODLIKE level design. If you can't enjoy it one of the few true masterpiece games there are, it's your loss.

As a kid who wanted N64 real bad but then got a PSone and mostly played N64 at friends place (Goldeneye and Mario Kart mostly), I distinctly remember the first time I played Mario 64. Mind you I was stuck with a NES for most of the 90s until I got the ps1 very late.

I mostly remember being blown away by the water parts, being able to dive and swim around. Smooth framerate was also unreal but I remember thinking even then as a little shit that 3d didn't work too well in terms of fun, levels were suddenly non-linear and pacing was meh. I didn't want N64 so much after.

To this day i believe that PS1 was a much better console with better library of games and I'm thankful my parents didn't listen to me about the n64.
