I'm playing this for the first time and I just hit Disc 3 and I've hit a brick wall
I have no motivation to play anymore
There hasn't been a single dungeon or boss fight in hours
It made me do card battle tournament
Now it's making me find a way to help get Cid in human form

Give me motivation to keep playing because so far, Disc 3 is a train wreck

You will find out that Zidane was actually an alien from another planet full of humanoid beings that look just like him, except they have no emotions or anything. You were sent to Gaia(earth essentially) To destroy all humans, except you failed in pretty much the same way goku did. Zidane was supposed to drain the planet of its life force and replace it with his people, and goku was suppose to wipe it out to be sold. Then you also find out that dagger was actually born to a bunch of white mages, who were attacked by the ship known as the invincible (which you eventually get to pilot yourself). Thus explains the intro to the game. You fight Kuja, and then you fight the creator of the entire universe. the end.

Necron isn't a god or the creator of the universe. He's a manifestation of death itself and simply a throwback to old Final Fantasy games, and JRPG's in general, by being a final boss that makes no sense. Necron is not plot important at all.

I disagree. Kuja's motivations are retarded. It's just a child on an existantial crisis except with more power than a child.

At least Ultimecia had more interesting motives: it was her only chance for her own survival.

That's a widespread fan theory but the iifa Tree and Necron have nothing to do with each others. What makes you believe they're connected?
When the iifa Tree says he's not really dead and will come back he will refer at him being in the depths of the planet and that fog will come back, just like it does in Disk4.

That's because that's exactly what he is. He never had a childhood and he never grew up. Garland just created him and he was ordered to start wars on Gaia to further Garland's plans. Zidane's better stability is because he started life as a child and actually had a childhood and grew up because he was dumped on Gaia by Kuja.

If Necron had a more abstract design reflecting death and didn't blabber about "zero world" I would've accepted him fine as the final boss. Beating him could've been a really nice depiction of overcoming death. But they had to make him some sort of pretentious space angel.

I think Necron is important plot wise. It means that the characters reached their goals: they succeeded in life by beating death itself. The game is all about characters existential crisises.
It proves that not only they found their goals in life by even showed death itself that life was worth living.

also to people answering how dumb it is that they "destroy" Necron: they don't really destroy it. At the end of the fight Necron's essence still exists, but it says that seeing Zidane&Co fight so hard makes him realize that there HAS to be something worth living in their lives for them to fight so hard for it. So, Necron decides not to wipe out the Universe and even Kuja was given a lesson by this fight since he's the one who sends the team back on Gaia.

The whole thing with Kuja at the end was a contrast to the black mages, I think. He created them as nothing more than tools of conquest with a limited lifespan, and only saw and treated them as much, and later preyed upon their fear of death so they would do his bidding. The irony is that despite his tremendous power, he was just like them in the end.
