According to pcgamingwiki some versions have controller support and others don't.
You can always use something like antimicro or xidi, but you won't get analog movement.

Aside from GOG and retail, it seems that the Ubi and Steam versions have controller support. I never tried those though.
There is also a non-retro X360/PS3 version with some upgrades.

How much does an OG PS2 copy go for these days?

Back when I bought this late in the 6th gen cycle, everyone considered it a sleeper hit destined for cult status. I snatched a used copy ASAP just to have one before physical copies disappeared for good and prices presumably went up.

15 years later and no one has talked about that damn game since then.

I just use mine to avoid dealing with Dosbox controller support + joystick support in DOS games dual-layer dogshit.

Last time I tried using Joy2Key it nagged me to pay to upgrade or donate. Antimicro is basically the same thing but with more features and it's open source.

I had the PS3 version and I know /vr has a hateboner for HD remasters but I found literally nothing wrong with it. Looked good, played good. No glitches that I encountered. Don't know if it's still available the store or not though

Generally whenever you want to play a PC game, it's good to go to this site. It says here that as long as you don't get the retail release or the gog release, you should be fine, so just find a site that has the steam version uploaded. Or get a cheap key, the game is always on sale for next to nothing.
