That's funny OP, for me it was Jurassic Park for the gameboy. Holy shit this game was pure garbage. In an especially agonizing twist, the store clerk initially gave us a copy of Mortal Kombat because the cover looked so similar. If I hadn't pointed out the mistake, I actually would've gotten a decent game.

Warpath wasn't too bad actually, although obviously it can't compete with tekken, street fighter, toshinden and the like.
I remember there was another JP game for ps1 that was kinda fun though, it was some sort of platformer.

Here's the second. Honestly, it isn't terrible, as it's pretty much Super Metroid Lite, but I couldn't beat the first boss, and it PISSED ME OFF TO NO END. I would play this game over and over just to try and get past Kaa.

Here's the thing that seals the deal though:
>My birthday is a couple months away
>Parents know it's summer and that I'm bored as heck in the neighborhood
>"Pick out two games, one for now, one for when it's your birthday!"
>Distinct memories of seeing a trippy looking cover with a weird golden statue on it and the words EARTHBOUND
>Picks The Jungle Book instead because I loved the movie, and Kirby Super Star
>"Alright, pick whichever you're going to play now!"
>Points to The Jungle Book

Again, it didn't take me long to realize my mistake. I wanted Kirby Super Star so bad I tried sneaking it out from where they put it, but it was way too high up. Sometimes I wish I had parents that knew a thing or two about gaming just so they steered me toward ANYTHING different.

On an unrelated note, we went to a HUGE Best Buy, and it was AWESOME, with giant Mario and Sonic statues, multiple SNES and Genesis set ups with great TVs, and I remember anytime we came near that Best Buy, I tried to get my parents to take me there.

Double Dragon V, snes. Adored Double Dragon I and II for the nes, loved playing the second one with my brother. Discovered this in a video rental store that was getting rid of its snes stock, was excited to see a DD game I was unaware of at the time. Screenshots on the back cover looked like it could be from a sidescrolling beat 'em up, and it said it had multiplayer right on the back. It had some obvious flaws like no saving (and if I recall correctly you didn't get a password at the end of eveyr level, eighter), but that one was pretty easily fixed since I found a code that let you select any level. My story with horrible games is a little different.

For a pretty long time, I really never grasped the concept that a game could be bad and devoid of any kind of fun. It probably wasn't until I was 10 or 11 that I begun to realize that some games just were not good.

So when I got this game, if you had asked me how good it was, I would have told you it was awesome. Best Superman game ever.

I honestly believed it, too. I played this game every day for probably about a month. I'd get home from school excited to play this game. I never even got close to beating it.

I just assumed I wasn't any good at it, or that there was just something about the game that I didn't understand. I eventually stopped playing it, convinced that I just wasn't good at the game.

Also, the exact same thing happened with Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero. And many other games.

Heh, that's my brother's favorite Mickey game, mine is World of Illusion for Genesis.

Here's my pick that i most regret, although i enjoy the game, it wasn't worth 30$. It also upset me that the PAL version was the only version with a guncon, i mean why the fuck would they do that for a light gun game?

I bought this game because I wanted to, with my own money.

I think it's underrated, overlooked and considered shitty while it's really good. It has both the atmosphere of RE1-2 and the B-Movie feel, which were lost since RE3. For fans of RE it's great because you get TONS of files with story about the other games and monsters, and also because you get to fight monsters from both RE1 and 2. Sure, gameplay is nothing extraordinary, "puzzles" are a joke (if you could even call them puzzle), but it has tons of replay value. I really like it: and I also LOVE the look of first person 3D games on PSX.

Never had this experience. I somehow only picked good games. I still remember how I got one game without it being planned just because I simply could not move away from its playable presentation system in the shop.

>Be a kid
>mom wants to go to the electronic store, looking for a CD or sth.
>go with her
>See that game being presentated at one of the store's stationary consoles, luckily no other kid is around hogging the controller.
>As soon as touching the controller never let go for the next hour, hands like glued to it
>hour has passed, mom looked through the store, "Just a little bit more!"
>another half hour has passed, mom comes back again, hold on to the controller with at least one hand FOR DEAR LIFE, just ignore that she wants to leave and pretend I didn't hear her
>Another 20 Miutes later, mum comes back again... again- with the game in her hand... That was literally the only way to make me leave the console

And the game was:

Tetris Attack

It was so worth it, loved it and played the HELL out of it and love it today. Best. Gift from my mom. Of. My. Life.

The fact that it was a puzzle game might have helped, I'm not sure if she would have bought me fighting game or a shooter...

There was one game I bought before I started doing my research. Legend of Zelda 2. I know the game gets a great deal of love and hate from all sides, but as a kid I didn't really enjoy it. I played all the way to the last area then quit out of boredom. Years later I came back to it with an emulator with the intent of finishing what I started. I quit before level 2. Just isn't my cup of tea.

Since then I did my research. Had Dragon Quest 2 and 3, Maniac Mansion(exploding hamster version), Deja Vu, Kirby's Adventure, SMB1, 2, and 3, Ninja Gaiden 1 and 2, LoZ, and Duck Tales on the NES, and still have SMW1 and 2, SMRPG, FF6, Super Metroid, Alttp, SF2, MK2, DKC 1 and 2, NBA Jam TE, and Earthbound on the SNES.

Growing up that was the only game I ever regretted owning. It's not as bad as it's reputation, but I could never get into it.
