Well, this was fun. Did the Japs make any other good text adventures like this?

I never knew there was a Phantasy Star text adventure game. Note to self: find fan translation if there is one. Anyways NES had a lot of them. A few of them are murder mysteries like Deja Vu.

You just linked me to the normal Phantasy Star 2. Unless I'm not understanding this right.

Shit, sorry, thought I was being helpful. Apparently they aren't the same thing. I'm not a Phantasy Star player, but apparently there were eight of said text adventures.

The more you know!

No problem. Without this thread I wouldn't have known about the text adventure too. I personally love the Phantasy Star series (3 was alright but wasn't great) so knowing about a text adventure game (on of my favorite genre) makes me happy.

These were okay, but I only got through Rolf's and Nei's. I kept getting stuck on Rudo's and without save points it got to be a hassle re-doing the whole scenario every time I made a mistake and got killed. Someday though.

So which Phantasy Star game should I start with?

And on which console? I'm interested in the lore, mainly.

If you cannot read moon, then PS1 on the Master System, arguably with an FM sound board installed. Gamesack talked about it at length in the recent RPG video.

If you have a PS3 or 360 had "Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection" it has all 4 Phantasy Star games and some of the best games Genesis had to offer. Not all but it's a great deal if you can find it.

>>969456
I meant games LIKE Deja Vu. I wasn't saying it was a Japanese game. I'm just saying if he played Deja Vu there are other games that never come over to America that play like Deja Vu.

Not because of some phony black magician, eh, Nei?

Just a side note to the Genesis collection, you need a second controller of some sort in order to unlock the first phantasy star (I used a guitar hero controller)

>> No.969747

I totally forgot that you needed 2 players. Yes but you just need to beat the first boss in 2 player mode. It really sucks since it's the only game that you need 2 players to unlock. Thanks for pointing that out.

If you have it on PS3 just hold the PS button and set the controller to number 2. I think Tails only has to hit him once as well.

After or even during would make more sense, they're backstories to characters but they're designed to teach you more about characters you already know.

Awesome. I've been sitting on the Phantasy Star series for quite some time now and would really love to jump in and at least attempt to get the full experience.
