Why did REmake and RE0 have poor sales?

They were on the Gamecube to maintain artistic integrity instead of selling out to the weak normie goyslopstation

Horror game exclusive to the kid friendly Nintendo GameCube.
Still using fixed camera angles when everything had gone full 3D.
Remake of a game that wasn't that old and an unnecessary prequel

1) they were on gamecube. A nintendo console known for child-friendly fun. And nintendo platforms weren't known for getting RE games (besides the weird N64 RE2 port) so RE fans weren't likely to be on gamecube, even beyond the fact that the sales of GC were nothing compared to PS2

2) survival horror wasn't en vogue anymore. During the late 90s capcom pumped out RE games basically yearly, not to mention spinoffs like dino crisis and plenty of other "resident evil clones" coming out during that time. Even with RE3 and CV you could see sales and interest starting to wane from overexposure. Even if REmake were on PS2 instead, sales still would've been lower compared to the PS1 titles.

Actual answer because I'm bored:

They are remakes/rehashes of old stuff...at a time where the world wasn't completely desperate for new good things coming out.

That didn't make sense to me even at the time. One of your big franchises is debuting on a next gen console and you lead off with a remake of a 5 year old game everyone and their mother already played and resurrect a messy prequel project that already got canned once? It just felt like a really half assed effort.

Fixed camera shit was played out by then.

Silent Hill 2 almost sold as much on PS2 within a month as what REmake did on GC in its lifetime

There were still a lot of AITD/RE clones and survival horror during that era, but most of them were all on PS2.

Yes it's still very far from the 5 million sales of RE1 and 2 on PS1, but they still had an audiance.
The time when people REALLY got tired of survival horror was in the next generation.
