I am supersad about Chrono. I tried playing Chrono Cross but stopped at Leene Square and looked up the plot. Then I replayed Chrono Trigger on the DS and there's a bonus level where you fight Dalton then he says he's going to raise an army in Porre to destroy Guardia and then there's a new FMV where it says Porre destroy Guardia 5 years later. Also in Chrono Cross Lucca is murdered.

I played Radical Dreamers and the end gave me feels though...

The entire party can take a snooze in Chronos bed in game (so you'd have Chrono, Marle and Lucca all taking a "snooze" in one bed).

However in the game you have the "goodnight" tune and then the game skips to you standing downstairs.

It was written and directed by Chrono Trigger's scenario writer and original character creator.

It's as canon as it can possibly be. Not liking it doesn't make it non canon.

You forget that Trigger had 3 other major writers on it other than Kato, Takashi Tokita, Yoshinori Kitase, and Yuji Horii. Also, Tokita and Kitase were the co-directors, Akira Toriyama was the character designer, and Kazuhiko Aoki produced it. There were a lot of people who had a say over Kato during Trigger, which explains why Cross was so different than Trigger. I think Cross would have benefited with somebody supervising over him and not having him in the director's seat.

What?

I usually get bored of RPG's, but Chrono Trigger is great even by today's standards. The grinding, if any, is minimal, and the story is just as good, if not better, than anything recent.

>> No.966684

>>966050
>grinding

There is absolutely zero required grinding in CT. Very easy game.

>The grinding, if any, is minimal
>if any

But you're right. This is often why I say Chrono Trigger is the perfect RPG. A pretty polarizing opinion as I've come to find out.

As far as the genre goes, it's perfect. Yes it's ridiculously easy, but what exactly about an RPG is hard? Other games rely on maze-like dungeons that stretch forever, taking hours to complete.A boring war of attrition against the game. Other games often FORCE you to grind before an overpowered Boss. I wouldn't go as far as saying that RPGs are reliant on artificial difficulty, but the only difficulty is the tediousness.

Chrono Trigger, on the other hand, has reasonably sized dungeons that don't wear on your patience, excellent pacing, and bosses that have gimmicks you have to find and exploit( as opposed to giant monoliths you mindlessly strike over and over and over again.)

Chrono Trigger cuts the usual RPG bullshit and gets straight to the good bits.

>Akira Toriyama was the character designer
And none of his characters featured redesigns in the game.
>There were a lot of people over Kato in Trigger
Wrong. Its amazing how little "chrono trigger fans" actually know about their own game, which is nothing new.
Yuji Horii created the draft for CT, which the entire script for CT was then penned and written entirely by Kato. Kato also had work on Xenogears as well as Final Fantasy VII, yet apparently you forget to mention that. Does Kitase own much of his elbow work in VII to Kato? No. But you state this bullshit like they were "caging" him for CT and thus why CC was so free/different.
Only Sakuguchi and Horii had supervisor roles. It was namely Horii who was responsible for the "flow" of CT, given he was the one with the hard-on for time travel. It was primarily Kato who was responsible for characterization, dialogue, and everything regarding the delivery of the story.
Yorii was also part of the staff for CC, and was actually responsible for the dialogue-script effect.
I really don't care if trigger-kids get their rectum in a bunch, its an indirect sequel. There's a lot of evidence Chrono survived, but just because people don't understand the ghost children or get buttpained about Lucca getting killed, nostalgia kicks in. Advent Children did a far worse job, and is not canon.

To be honest, the only grinding you have to do is SP Grinding, and that can be done with the Nu at the hunting ground in the prehistoric era. You can also rack up tons of money in the process.

Man those world maps are completely different. Lots of different battle sprites too. Makes you wonder how many times things get redrawn during the development of these games.
