I was psyched at first but then I realized what I was excited for, was something I modded in myself.
Goldeneye with mouse controls is amazing.
Goldeneye with joycon motion controls, would also be amazing.

I will say it has a lot of "pizazz". It's one of those games where shooting enemies feels very satisfying. Everything has a good crunchy impact about it. A lot of the music, and sound design is very good. The presentation is all obviously very appealing if you're a James Bond fan. I like the gimmick of higher difficulties adding more mission objectives, and I wish that became more of a thing in video games.

Depends what you're looking for in a game, really. It's probably not the most high tier competitive shooter. It doesn't have the smoothest controls. They work, but they're of their time.

Do I like it a lot? Yes. Are a new generation about to be introduced to it, only to piss and moan because it's not Overwatch? Also yes.

Fucking how? I managed to do most of them legit in my scrub-ass teenage years, I only used the button cheats for a few because I could never quite meet the time to unlock the secret levels. I kept getting JUST seconds over and I eventually lost it, I wasn't gonna miss out on those levels I had heard about for years.

Besides that, I could eventually reach the target time on a lot of the tougher levels on 00 Agent, such as Facility and Control, the latter where I felt like a king for pulling through on the second. This was with a gamepad where the analog stick was getting to be loose and mushy, and I by far preferred playing without the aim assist (which people tell me is actually a disadvantage). I had a lot stacked against me and I still did this stuff.

Here's how this release is going to down.
>Nintendrones who've been hyping up this rerelease will play it for a few days, maybe make some tweets about how "this game is still so amazing I can't even" and then never touch it or speak of it again
>Speedrunners will analyze every nanometer of the port and make multiple 40-minute videos of spliced-together VODs about how the game is now "unplayable" because there's a 2 second skip on Silo that no longer works
>Anons who have never speedran and never will will start linking these videos about why the port is "so fucking bad"
>Zoomers playing for the first time will begin making video essays about how Goldeneye "was never good"
>/v/ will begin consolewarring about which version is better
>Most discussion about the rerelease will die down in about 2 weeks
>4 months from now the weekly "what went wrong?" threads will begin

Yeah that scans. Although I can see why younger retro enthusiasts would be mad. The N64 controller was always awkward and the framerate was always bad on Goldeneye. It's expensive to even get a Switch N64 controller for a more authentic experience. I have no nostalgia for most Atari games and only care about them as parts of video game history. I find most of them awkward and not fun. That's probably where Mouseboy is coming from. It didn't seem that hard at the time, but I also had to walk up a snowy hill both ways to get fresh batteries for my Game Gear every couple hours.

I don't think it was even a given with people that mouselook was the way to play shooters when Goldeneye was in development. It came out a year after Quake, and it was in development for a while because it was supposed to come out on the Snes initially. Nothing about the way shooters are "supposed" to control was really settled with people at that point. A lot of people just played with their keyboards.

The N64 polls x/y axis positions of the thumbstick and button presses. Mouse aiming is just a matter of translating the position of the mouse to x/y positions the game can recognize. So yes precision is everything because those are all what the thumbstick itself can be read and interpreted as.

N64 stick is definitely way better for moving a curser around a screen than any stick since. I didn't even realise until recently when I went back to playing on the real hardware.

It doesn't matter, since we are talking about software programming and not your nonsensical "feelings". The OG N64 controllers had the most precise and sensitive analog inpiut to this day, you will never get the same accuracy of position from other controllers. This translates to a very easy and simple conversion when translating x/y positions for the mouse with little to no issues. It is that simple.

Don't confuse 'beatable' with 'playable.' This is barely playable. All of your enemies can aim much faster than you with this setup. Motherfucker I did the 100 super jumps in Mario RPG.
I beat Pilotwings. Normal and expert, in one sitting. You try doing that shit. Go ahead. Try it.
Do not talk to me about mere DIFFICULTY.
Get down on your knees and beg for my forgiveness.

Yeah stupid do you know what that is?
Do you know how difficult and stressful it gets to do all 100 with perfect rhythm? You can't twitch or even breathe wrong. Bad reply.

--Actually now that I think about it. There's a very simple way you can PROVE all of this to me.
Okay so there's a button on the switch controllers which, if pressed quickly takes a snapshot, but if you hold it down it records the last 30 seconds and saves it as an MP4 on your memory card.
Do the Train level, 00 agent, and show me getting through the first two cars in 30 seconds. Demonstrate your aiming ability.
Post it here, or on /wsg/ and then link it from there. The size limit here is 4mb and muted, the filesize there is 6mb with sound.
If you cannot do this for me, again, get down on your knees and beg for my forgiveness.

I'm not the guy you're talking to and I don't even really like Goldeneye, I just think that's a weird thing to bring up as a feat because it's not that bad, and even attempting it is an efficient way to play the game so once you get super jump you'll be trying for it a lot anyway. I don't know anything about Pilotwings either, but I'm pretty sure Arino beat it so I feel like it couldn't be that bad, either.

Not through emulation unless you want 90% of title screens and hud displays to look like a mess of hideous of pixels, i dont get why people are okay with that

yep it's a classic, still another n64 titan when it comes to multiplayer. The particles and debris during a full lobby shootout reminds me of FEAR oddly enough. About as fun as halo 1 in its own way i'd say, especially with all the extras. Autoaim and dk turbo mode, that's how you do a console shooter. Framerate being better helps modernize things, just dont add faggots from europe on your friendlist. And stop messing with the controls you faggot, just pick it up and play

Stop making excuses for being bad at videogames. If I can do Control on 00 Agent with the original controller, why can't you? I'm unremarkable at the game, you have no excuse.

Shocked by how garbage the xbox port is, playing on a series x and it's locked at 24 fps and they didn't even bother to slap in some auto hdr, the perfect dark port is light years ahead of this, what the fuck Rare. Oh that's right, no online multi-player but somehow the switch can handle it.
